A Video Game Review and Story Progress For Anyone Who Cares · 2:50am Oct 6th, 2013
I began work on Cider. I'm really liking where I'm going with this. It did require me to go back to The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 episode a few times, but, while adding in a good amount of detail as to how the Apple family is coping with what they're going through, I managed a few hundred words. Also, I'm cancelling A Western Adventure. I lack the urge to continue. It has tons of potential, but it's been left un-updated for so long, yet every time I try and work on it, I can only get a few words, maybe a sentence or two. I will be putting that story as cancelled. Sorry about that.
Now for the Review.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is the latest and best (in my opinion) game in the Call of Juarez series. Although short, it was amazingly fun.
Gameplay: The gameplay is amazing. The graphics are purposefully arcade-style (very similar to Borderlands) that you fall in love with almost instantly. The guns look good and their abilities vary greatly, from a very fast shooting revolver with very low damage to a sawed-off rifle. There are several helpful combat features (sense of death, which allows you to dodge a would-be fatal bullet as long as the meter is full, Focus, which is a lot like Red Dead Redemption's deadeye, and score multipliers, to allow the player to level up faster). The combat is extremely fun, and there are very few bugs.
Story: Gunslinger's storyline is very well-done. My only complaint is that it's extremely short. To avoid spoilers, I'll keep this section short.
Replay Value: there are several reasons to replay CoJ: Gunslinger. The first reason is to collect remaining Nuggets of Truth. Another reason is because, since there are two different endings, you can go check out the other alternative. You could also play for the many achievements the game features, or to try a different difficulty setting, or just because the game is so much friggin' fun.
Rating: I give this game a 9.5 out of 10. My only complaints were that the game is so short (about 5-10 hours if you play it once) and there aren't very many guns to use. Other than that, it is superb and very well done all around.
