I complain about writing and then make excuses: Special 'Towns' edition. · 1:28pm Sep 23rd, 2013
I'm thinking about just not posting stories until they're close to being wrapped up.
I have like nine work in progress and three posted (Still WIP), but whenever I post a story, suddenly it turns from being 'Whoa fun!' to 'Oh god, I have to write this? And still maintain the characters? WHAT WAS I THINKING?!'
I figure that alot of it stems from the desire to want the reader of the story to feel like they're not just being told to feel something. I think that comes from reading alot of stories where they go: 'AND THEN SUDDEN: *SHIPPING*/*BIG EVENT*/*MASSIVE PLOT SHIFT* NO I'M NOT EXPLAINING IT!'
Yes, I realise that one of my biggest fics is a 'I did this' story, but I'm trying to write it as if the main character is experiencing it and then you're getting the story moments later. More 'Inner monolog' than 'I'm relaying this story 6 weeks later' style.
Funny thing about my WIP: I've been sitting on two stories for nearly a year, slowly adding to both and still haven't worked up the nerve to post 'em. Mostly because they're using the main cast of characters and I hate when fanfics go major OOC with characters....
.... Unless it's funny, of course.
Shade, Starcunning man of Steamworks and Magicks Obscura will arrive probably within the week. I'm not even going to make excuses for it, aside from a major case of plot confusion.
Not that sort of plot, you pervert.
Also, don't play a game called 'Towns', it's like getting drunk: You don't remember shit about what you did but when you check it out, suddenly there is this huge ass construction you don't remember building, but is apparently a hugely successful town.
.... That immediately ends up getting wiped out because 'Towns' likes to ruin yo shit for lols, mofuka!
I'm sure you'll find a way out of the mucky-muck that you are in, I believe in you sir!
