Getting off my arse

So I'm going to get off my arse and do some actual writing tonight, and probably tomorrow too. I'm just so damn lazy and can never really drive myself to do things, but I'm going to try to change that a bit. We'll see what I can thump out and if I can knock out something that'll pass off as a story or even just a chapter of something I've already been planning to pen I'll stick it up on here and wait for folks to knock me down a peg for being terrible.

In other news, I've been reading the shit out of Nick Cave's And the Ass Saw the Angel. Super fucking dark, that story is. It's set around the early 20th century in the deep south, in a town full of superstitious, religious crazies and ignorant, hateful people, and revolves around a mute guy, ostracized by the townsfolk and beaten and even sodomised at one point, completely losing his marbles in a rather disastrous manner. The story is told through the incredibly overwrought, self-indulgent and hauntingly biblical rantings of the protagonist broken up by third person omniscient narrative every once in a while, and it really, really works.
