Live or Die Man! Live or Die? · 2:07am Sep 3rd, 2013

I've got a story on my hooves/hands that I've been typing up a storm over. Just one of those story's that just flows through you. But the ending is killing me.
It's my first crack at this whole "romance" thing, and initially it was going to be a real feels mass bomb. Guy falls in love with Girl, fluffy shipping ensues, "Happy Together" by the Turtles montage, followed by the Guys heroic (but tragic) death protecting the love of his life. He dies in a hospital with her at his side. They plan a party together in his final moments. It's really touching.

BUT

The more work I put into it, the more and more I can't bring myself to kill him. It just feels so wrong, jacked up even. I made myself feel for these characters and now I can't bring myself to destroy their happily ever after. I've thought about doing an "alternate ending" but I feel like that would undermine the tragic ending by providing a happier alternative.

SO

What do I do? I think myself too emotionally compromised to make an unbiased decision. Any ideas?
It's either a real tear jerking (perhaps rage inducing) ending, or Disney-esqe happily ever after.
You don't have to say one way or another, I just want some opinions.
Imagine the couple in question are your best friends.

both! have him survive but come out terribly crippled  problem solved! you don't have to kill him but you still get that tragic ending

1339795 Truth be told, I did consider that, but I've decided to end him. :fluttershysad:
