Writing more stories doesn't mean you're better

It doesn't mean you're a better writer, it doesn't mean you're a more devoted fan. It certainly doesn't mean you're a better person, or that you're above criticism. And if you think that it means any of that, then that means that you're horrible.

    Why am I saying this?

    Weekly Update for 11/07/2013

Another chapter up, not much to say. I've gotten up to 12 done, ready to be edited. At the current pace I'm going, I shouldn't have much trouble keeping up with everything that is done. If I keep doing one chapter a week, or two every two weeks, then I'm always ahead of what's required. Life is also being nice to my editor, which means I get to have it looked at.

    Weekly update

I just put up another chapter, and I still have 4-9 either waiting to be edited or already edited. I have about 1700 words of chapter 10, which will be the finale of the first small story arc. I tried to take it somewhat slow, make it to where it has detail, make it to where it might be a compelling story for people to read.

    Small Update

    Another small update.

Now I’m up to seven chapters, working on the eighth. This means that, soon, we might actually have a published story. Then after that I get to start putting them out at a pace of once a week. That should help for when I run out of motivation. Soon, my loyal followers, soon there will be a story that nobody actually asked for.

Update (Because titles don't have to be exciting for blog posts)

This is going to be a much smaller update than the others. This last week has been spent doing a few things. I have been thinking up ideas for the story I’m collaborating on. I’ve also been fleshing out my ideas when it comes to the new story I’ve been typing up, and trying to come up with ideas for the continuation of the story that you’re all looking forward to. My new story is up to 16k words

I wonder what the gender split actually is · 12:53am Sep 2nd, 2013

I mean, the majority that we see are mares.

But, really, there have to be guys around there somewhere.

Or is Equestria really the female-majority country? And is Ponyville really the female capital of the world?

I should probably get a twitter for these weird thoughts, but I had them and now you know them.

Also, still trudging along with the final chapter. I'm easily 10-15% done with it, too!

I saw an analysis video on this subject once that explained it quite clearly:
Ponyville is a farming community. The majority of the stallions are working the fields, while the majority of the mares are keeping the town itself running. Then you have to factor in that we are following teenaged mares around, and realize that where they want to go isn't necessarily where the in-town colts are hanging out.

For a better depiction of the gender split, you need to look at episodes like Winter Wrapup, when you can actually see the menfolk in action, and any episode set in a big city.
