Nosnibormada

I still check this website for some reason. I might post a blog about music every now and then, and sometimes update the Youtube link below for good music I've recently discovered.

“New” favourite works of Classical Music

I put new in quotes because, firstly, they're now all decades old and, secondly, because I discovered them all quite a while ago but have had yet to mention them. (It's been ages since I updated this blog.) All are repetitive to varying degrees. Here they are, with links, descriptions and reasons why they're favourites of mine:

A whole bunch of anime films

I've been watching so many of these recently that I thought I may as well just give a short, spoiler-free impression of each one, instead of going into too much depth. If you haven't seen these, then let's just say that you should have.

As the title suggests, here are some pieces of music I've come across that are all less than two minutes long. Quality over quantity is always my way of thinking about music, so here's a bit of evidence for my idea. I'd say these pieces are better by themselves than several full-length albums I've heard, so that surely must say something.

I don't know what key this is in, and I don't care. Ico is a wonderful videogame that you all must play, which has more ethereal music like this.

I have Mr HalyconAndroid to thank for me discovering this. It's a perfect compliment to the "crush" scenes of Nichijou.

Probably the closest you'll ever come to orchestral house music. It sums up the childish loveliness that makes My Neighbour Totoro a must-see film.

Nobody likes to be labelled something when they're just being themselves. De La Soul didn't either, so here's an explanation over a piano loop.

Good old Ivor Cutler, turning a casual English term on its head and making it hilarious. Forget musicianship, this is just comedy expressed with notes.

How could I not post Boards of Canada? Here's an obscure gem of theirs, with a pretty appropriate accompanying video.

You know I didn't pay much attention to the music the first time Nichijou...I'm glad I'm rewatching it again because it has some really good music

Also, I really need to play Ico dammit...I have the HD collection that comes along with SotC so I have no excuse to not have played it yet. I've played a bit of SotC and it's really great!

also if you don't mind I have a nice little song that's under 2 minutes that I think you may like.

(also, as always, everything you posted was nice ヽ(´▽`)ノ )

Huh, one of the things that really stuck out to me about Nichijou was the music. I'm reading the manga of it now, but it's not the same as the anime for me due to the lack of the great music (although it is plenty funny).

You're right, you have no excuse... :derpytongue2:
Really, though, Shadow of the Colossus and Ico are probably my favourite two videogames ever. I just love the artistry, worldbuilding, and connection you feel towards the characters in those games. Plus, of course, there's the fact that you really need to think laterally on how to progress further. Those are my favourite types of games.

That tune you linked was cool as well, like downtempo mixed with chopped-up jungle breaks.

yeah, back when I watched it the first time I wasn't as into music as I am now :(

I do seriously want to play those games...so I will, fuck yeah! Also, I think you may like Journey and Yume Nikki in that case. Not sure if you have a ps3 or not to play Journey but Yume Nikki (I think that's the english translation?) is a free game on the PC. It's a really neat, kinda creepy, artsy game that's based around the exploration of a really nice and surreal dreamscape world.

Glad you liked Saberpulse, he's a pretty nice musician that mostly makes chiptune/breakcore but this album is mostly chill/ambient stuff. It's called Titan EP and I'd definately give it a listen as it's pretty short but nicely produced...the titles of all the songs are on the front of the album showed on the video if you wanna look em up.

I really want to play Journey, since I've read reviews and seen gameplay of it and it looks stunning. I just don't have a PS3, though, and I doubt it'd be worth buying a whole new console just for one game (although if The Last Guardian eventually comes out on PS3 then that'd seal the deal). I'll give Yume Nikki a go, since it's free and all.

I've give Titan EP a listen too.
