A Little Help From a Friend (Also Story Stuff)

First blog post, huzzah! Under strange circumstances, no less. I have no idea if people even read these things, but what the hell?

I should get the FimFic related stuff out of the way first, as that might be what most people are here to see.

First blog post, huzzah! Under strange circumstances, no less. I have no idea if people even read these things, but what the hell?

I should get the FimFic related stuff out of the way first, as that might be what most people are here to see.

I apologize once again for not being a speedy uploader like I was back in the day with Day One, but I assure everyone that cares that I will update Equestria Special Forces as quickly as I can. I have most of the story planned out in my head, and its been that way since almost the very beginning. Its just the details in between that catch me up, no matter how fast I want to get to the juicy bits. Its a really fun story and I want to see it played out to the end.

Now, on to Day One and Dawn. Day One is officially done, and so is Dawn for the most part. I might write little side chapters like I did with "The X Files" for Dawn, because it ended in such a way that it is appropriate. But I will go ahead and say: the two stories are very much connected. I intend for another HiE story to come about some day (soon, hopefully, after ESF is done) that will introduce another character in a (hopefully) unique setting with its own pros and cons. After that story's completion, assuming I get that far, there will be an "Avengers" type fic that involves David, Alfonz, and the new character all at once, and should wrap things up quite nicely.

(PS: For those Day One fans who have yet to check Dawn out, please do so! It's along the same vein, in a PG13, slightly-more-morbid way. Here, I'll make it easy for ya!)

Now then, onto the rest.

You see, there's this site on the web that I thought I should mention. Its a little place called RPG Topia. It's basically a little community based around text-based RPGs, with splashes of everything else in a true mom-and-pop style forum. And by text-based RPGs, I don't mean things like DnD or Dark Heresy (which are awesome, by the way), but rather something more like an evolving, collaborative fanfic. Posters make their own characters, give them personality/history and so forth, and mold their own individual stories while interacting and potentially participating with the stories of others. It might seem a bit strange, but its actually really fun.

I mention it here because I owe so much to that website it is not even funny. Back in 2006, when it started, I was one of the first few people who joined, and I grew as a writer more on that site, while having fun, than I ever have in a classroom. I've made some (unholy) mistakes in that time, and I wasn't a very good writer during my early years, but I like to think I'm at least a competent writer now, and I owe that all to this website.

I feel almost obligated to make this post, then, as the site has come under hard times. And no, I'm not talking about a kickstarter to keep it going or anything, I just mean participation. It was never a very huge website, with only about 15 or so active members in its heyday, but now it struggles along with maybe five RPG posts a week, if its lucky. There are still people who love the site dearly, including myself and the site's Webmaster, but there's just so little people who have stuck around, despite the success in the past.

I would like to believe that's because of exposure, because the site is great fun, at least to me. Although there aren't any My Little Pony RPGs (yet!) on the site, I feel I should give it a shoutout to you guys, a community of very talented and creative people. The different RPGs range from Jurassic Park dinosaurs to sci-fi space wars, so if you like those things or anything in between, I encourage you to give it a look.

Cheers.

I'm not really into that kind of thing, but I definitely check it out sometime.
