Code Lyoko: Equestria and Scanner Theory · 7:06pm Jul 10th, 2013
As you may have noticed in Chapter Four of Code Lyoko: Equestria (Virtualization) I made mention to how the Scanners base your Lyoko Avatar off of the subconscious. This has sprung up two questions: first, How? and second, What would happen if an insane person was to go into Lyoko for the first time? These questions have caused me to answer them using Scanner Theory.
First and foremost, how does the Scanner base your Lyoko Avatar off of your subconscious?
The answer? I don't know. As per Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, something that the Scanners--and Lyoko, and by extension the entire Lyoko Network (what's that? That's for another blog post, friend) as a whole--fall squarely into. I could try and give a viable explanation but technology that can actually probe your subconscious and get viable thoughts out is probably so advanced it would make an EEG look obsolete and something that in reality we don't have. Plus, there was never a viable explanation for how that all worked given in Code Lyoko or Code Lyoko: Evolution beyond "it scans your subconscious and then turns you into an Avatar", so I'm working with very little here. It seems like this question will be one for the ages. (Hopefully not.)
Second, what would happen if someone insane was to go into Lyoko for the first time?
Heh. I have a bad feeling that their insanity would cause them to turn into Ax Crazy Reality Warpers on the scale of Pinkie Pie's darker side. Though, when you learn that Waldo Franz Schaeffer-Hopper was mildly insane after reversing time 2,576 times (as well as somewhat paranoid) this may not be the case, although he probably entered Lyoko at least once before pulling off that whole time-reversing gig. Still, the prospect of someone insane going into Lyoko is pretty scary once you really think about it.
Those are my answers for you. You might not like them, but that's all I really have right now. Maybe you'll come up with better ones! Who knows? I look forward to hearing more from you and I'll see you at my next blog post!
In my story, it is magic. Well, magitech
