All the similarities between Yu-Gi-Oh! and MLP: FiM (that I can recall). · 9:02pm Jul 9th, 2013
Tell me what you think of these similarities between the two:
- Both have 'Magic Duels'.
- The importance of friendship is stressed in both.
- Magical artifacts: Millennium Items for Yu-Gi-Oh! and Elements of Harmony for MLP: FiM.
- Both Pharaoh Atem and Princess Celestia used their respective above items to seal away sinister forces in the past which returned millennia later.
- A pair of characters that often clash together for comedy's sake: Joey & Tristan in Yu-Gi-Oh! and AJ & RD in MLP: FiM.
- A pair of characters with a student-teacher relationship: Mahad & Mana in Yu-Gi-Oh! and Celestia & Twilight in MLP: FiM.
- Both kicked off the start of their respective decades; Yu-Gi-Oh! for the 2000's and MLP: FiM for the 2010's.
- Both had a theatrical movie within a few years of starting. Additionally, the villains in both were rather generic compared to ones from their respective shows.
- Both were preceded by at least one other show in the franchise's history.
- In 5D's, there's a total of six Signers by the series' end, the same number of Elemental Bearers.
- The existence of a separate dimension; the Duel Monsters' spirit world for Yu-Gi-Oh! and the astral plane for MLP: FiM.
If you go to TV troopes i think you will find a lot of other cartoon having similarities with MLP: FIM.
(And a lot of other similarity between the two cartoon)
1199623 I don't doubt it, but the sheer amount of similarities/parallels between these two is astounding to say the least.
