New Story - Gatekeeper: Prince of Darkness

Hey there everybrony! It's been a while since I made one of these, huh? Now I know what you are all thinking and don't worry, I'm still working on The Guardian (K)Night, and the revisions are coming in slow and steady. But that's not what this is all about. No, if you're seeing this, it's because I want you to know that I've made yet another story, titled Gatekeeper: Prince of Darkness. It a

Shot in the dark, and a quick cry for help.

Hey there everybrony, InfiniteBrony here. You know, that one guy with a popular story who's update rate is slower than the average lifespan of a small rodent. As you all should probably know by now, my story The Guardian (K)Night is currently on hiatus for review and rewrites. However, it seems I've hit a little snag lately.

New friends, New games, An unfortunate hiatus, and An adventure for the ages!

Well hey everybrony, guess who's back? (No, it's not the T2, he melted in a vat of molten steel, remember?) It's me!

Art, Exiles, and Guardians in the Night.

Hey there everybrony! It's been a while.

As is no doubt obvious just by you reading this, I'm back from my self-imposed exile for the first time in three weeks. And my exile has seemed to actually serve its purpose. I'll get right to it though, because I know just what you all want to hear.

    Announcements, Apologies and New Ideas

Hey there, everyone. It's me again. It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry for the wait.

I suppose I'll get straight to the point. The Guardian (K)Night. I know what you're all wondering, "When's the next chapter coming out?" The truth is, I don't know. At all.

Hey there, everyone. It's me again. It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry for the wait.

I suppose I'll get straight to the point. The Guardian (K)Night. I know what you're all wondering, "When's the next chapter coming out?" The truth is, I don't know. At all.

I going to be straight with you. I've been having problems. Rather big ones. I just can't seem to write it anymore. Every time I sit down to write I can only manage a few sentences after a couple of hours before just quitting and doing something else. I've had writers block before, but this is something else. It's a whole different monster. It's been almost two months since the last chapter. I barely have a thousand words. It's like all my motivation, my inspiration is just... gone. My muse has left me.

Now don't worry overmuch, I'm not giving up. I'd never do that. I've got too much into The Guardian (K)Night to even think of doing something like that, too much blood, sweat, love and tears. But I won't really be writing much of it for a little while. I simply can't. My mind won't let me. But... I had an idea.

If I can't write about Vamponies and monsters... why not write about something else?

So, I have have decided to shift my focus onto some of the many other projects I have in the wings, at least until my blood-sucking muse returns to me. The foremost of which I will talk about and share here.

First off, you should know that this is probably going to be a story for me to blow off steam. I won't be quite as worried about quility and such as with my more serious projects. I'm not really worried about trying to make it onto EQD with this. Also, it will be quite a bit more audience interactive. Discussions in the comments and such will most likely affect the plotline, how and what I write, depending on what the reader wants to see. I might include reader created content as well, such as OCs, names and locations. I'm hoping it will be enjoyable to both read and write. I'm even takeing suggestions on what to name the story itself!

About the actual story itself. Its best defining trait is probably stated thusly: Alternate Universe Equestria.
Massive in-story world, with adventures spanning vast distances and various locations. Great battles fought between massive armies and powerful beasts. Mysteries about the world, the Alicorns, the Gods, the nature of magic, ancient prophecies and much more. All your favorite ponies will be there, often playing roles you would have never dreamed of. Might even be some romance.

Cover art and description are below. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get Derpy fitted for her new armor. She's very excited about the new project.

And in The Final Age, Harmony shall be all but lost, as all the world's creatures are united and divided in fang and claw, in banners and blood. The Great War shall rage across all the world, in the Lands That Are Known, from The Hallowed Rift to Anger's Deep, from Peregrine Vale to Evo's Wilds, and even the vast, unmapped and untamed wilds that no creature blessed with the gift of Tongues has ever yet set hoof nor claw upon shall play host to great battles and unceasing bloodshed. The Great Spirits shall rage unfettered as their souls are clouded with the pain and hate of deaths uncounted as their rivers flood their banks with crimson tides of blood and the skies burn red with vengeful flames and the land itself shall heave and tremble at their call.

The Great War shall rage across the world for years uncounted, and in the end not even The Holy Land, seated in the Throne Of The World, ruled and protected by The Last Children Of Alicornia shall be spared. Not even their mastery of the world's mana will be enough to save them, and so shall The Sun weep tears of red for her lost children as The Promised Land Of All Ponykind bathes in the blood of its sons and its daughters.

Thus, when all hope is lost, and the vast armies march upon The Heart Of The World itself, shall The Last Children Of Alicornia seek desperate aid, and turn to The Stars.

And so shall The Final Gift Of The Gods be given unto the world, and from beyond the dark Void, so shall He come. He shall stand proud and strong, unbowed in the face of all this world's harsh trials and tribulations, the very earth shall quake as He passes and all the world shall bend to His will. With His coming, so shall end The Great War, and with it The Final Age - one way or another.

All this and more shall come to pass, for so I have borne witness in vivid, agonizing detail. All that remains to be seen, is weather the Eldrich beast shall be at last our salvation... or our final damnation.

The End of Days,
The lost prophecy of StarSwirl the Bearded, Keeper of the All-Seeing Eye.

1187668 Okay, take your time, you are a really good writer, and I can wait to see what you will do, I'm sure that it will be fabulous :raritystarry:

I've read so much Regidar recently I almost expected a poor gag at the end of that prophesy. I am so very glad I was wrong.

This will be epic, and I think I found Ditzy's armor.

If you want some advice, this is what I've been doing since two months ago and I haven't gotten Writer's Block ^ or Writer's Burnout~ since:

Write 500 words a day. It doesn't have to be the most beautiful thing ever written, it doesn't even have to be publishing material, just write 500 words until you finish the chapter, then move on to the next one, and repeat the process until you finish the story. Once that's all said and done, THEN you go through the editing phase and polish the story. Here's the hook though, you can't publish another chapter until the story is finished.

The hook is there for you to keep reminding yourself that you've got readers that are wanting a finished story, which will add to the incentive of finishing the story no matter the obstacle.

^ -- Writer's Block is what happens when you know where a story is supposed to go, but you can't figure out how to write the way there.

~ -- Writer's Burnout, on the other hand, is what happens when you have no idea where your story is going, and you have used up and/or written all of your original idea up to the end of said idea.

I predict the coming of an Alicorn god named Harmony for some reason.....
