...“How about no, because she’s just having one of her moments again, and I’m sick of entertaining them?” I shoot back - and swallow, too late, when I realize I’ve touched a nerve. Again.
“Don’t you dare tell me about little moments,” Dinky growls, and suddenly all of her grace is transformed into ice. “I can tell you now that this isn’t her problem.”
“Then whose is it then?” I snarl, getting up as well. At my height, I’m a head taller than Dinky; the irony of my name is not lost on me. “If it’s not her problem, whose is it?”...

She stares at me. I can’t return it; I close my eyes and hang my head. They throb, dull red and purple, along with my pulse. It thumps in my ears. Even breathing has become harder, every breath a pull, a conscious tug. I’m shivering. I want to run away.
“Imagine,” says Dinky, breaking the silence with her slow intonation. “Imagine. Is that all you think about?”
I look at her, hurt, confused.
“You say all these things. About your mother getting in your way. About not being supported. But do you realize that what’s you’re saying... you want to give up everything you have here, just to chase some foalish dream?”...

I'm even sure what's going on in these excerpts, but Dinky's involved, which means her mother probably is as well. Any use of bestpony has my interest.
