"Shadows in the Past" Tease and Help Request · 8:19am Jun 10th, 2013
Heya once again, folks!
Shadows in the Past is coming along slowly, but it is there. While writing itself has been slow, I have been planning the overall plotline out, and have a rough idea of what I'm doing...enough to give this little preview of what can be expected:
For nearly four months, a young pegasus stallion has been living a life many have dreamed of, but he alone has experienced. Starfall has been at Canterlot, undertaking advanced astronomy studies under the Guardian of the Night, Princess Luna herself. But in these four months, both pegasus and alicorn have been hiding a secret from the world of Equestria...a relationship that delves much deeper than that of student and mentor.
With this relationship keeping Starfall in near-constant proximity to the Lunar Princess, he has been training under the Royal Guard, learning the skills needed to defend himself, and the Princesses, should the need ever arise. But Starfall is struggling in his training, while Luna is dealing with her own personal issues in the wake of the return of the mysterious, ancient Crystal Empire.
The couple decide to take a trip to the mysterious city in the middle of Equestria's desolate Frozen North, Starfall to see if Shining Armor can provide a new insight to his training, Luna to search for answers Canterlot and Ponyville have both failed to provide. Both wish to also treat it like a holiday, and perhaps take some time to indulge in simple, romantic pleasures that have been sorely lacking in their secretive lives so far.
But as they get settled in to the Crystal Empire, demons from both Starfall and Luna's past rear their heads. With their shared world spiraling out of control, and dark forced looming on the horizon, can their secret relationship possibly remain hidden? Can it even survive the coming storm? Can Equestria itself survive? Starfall's courage and very life have been pushed to the limit once already. This time, it might not be enough...
There you have it, the 'preview' for "Shadows in the Past". That is all the information you will be getting out of me until I release the Prologue, so savor it.
In the meantime, however, I have a favor to ask all readers of "Magic in the Stars". As many readers had noticed, throughout Magic I had made little shout-outs to various background ponies from the show; Derpy, Octavia, Doctor Whooves, etc. I plan on continuing this trend in Shadows, but with a little twist. This time, I plan on adding cameos from various OCs, both of my design, and from other imaginations out there! Not including my own OCs, such as Starfall, I already have 3 character lined up to have little scenes in Shadows.
But I have room for many more, so if any of you have a character out there you would like to see mentioned, or perhaps even given a scene in my story, now is the time to let me know! At present, I am specifically looking for a Royal Guard OC to appear in the early chapters of Shadows...think the Royal Guard version of a drill sergeant. If any of you have a character that could fit that description, and have no problems with me writing them into my story, feel free to let me know!

Sure, feel free to reply in the comments here with the info...or send me a PM if you would prefer to be secretive about it. I can't guarantee that every OC requested will appear, but I'll certainly try and slip as many of them in as possible...even if it's just for a paragraph.

Occupation: Night Watch, Drill Sergeant
Teaches: Forming of clouds into thunderclouds, for use on ground and air, and lightning strike accuracy.

If this is meant to be the one teaching Starfall the basics of being a Royal Guard, remember that Starfall is no longer capable of flight, as such cloud manipulation might be a lot harder than usual for him. I can definitely tweak his specialties a little to fit him into the scene, though. I love the name Precesion Strike. Has he got an appearance, or should I just make that up myself?
Well, if you want you can give him the standard sort of Royal-Guard armour enchant appearance, but I always thought that the Night Watch which would act more so as an advanced Night weather team, not too different from life guard or the like, would have a lighter type of body armour, that enchants fur into a dark blue, almost navy colour, with the mane and tail turning into a shade yellow, fire like colour, like Spitfire's.
If you want an appearance without amour,
Mane/Tail and Wings: Deep Blue
Fur: Indigo
That good enough for appearance? Feel free to tweak it where needed, I just came up with this on the spot. The mane reason I came up with this character is due to the stormy conditions in the Crystal Empire, it wouldn't be too difficult to manipulate the weather into a type of Lightning Cloud, but if his "Pegasus Magic" is weakened by the loss of his wing, I'm interested what else is effected...

Thanks for that...I'll proabably keep his appearance fairly standard, to remain somewhat accurate to canon, and tweak him a little because his main appearance will be in Canterlot for the most part...though I may have him turn up at the Crystal Empire later on for a second appearance.

Your story not mine, I just gave you an OC I just made up recently, no use letting it go to waste, have him train him, kill him off, I don't mind as long as it can serve any kind of purpose.
