The Lost Element, Shivering Ponies & Assassins of Equestria · 12:58pm Mar 27th, 2012
Well, since I'm getting nagged by plot bunnies at the moment, ones that are pony or Elder Scrolls (or both) focused instead of focused on my original, I thought I'd write them out and see what comes of them so here's three stories that might end up on here eventually. If I can buckle down and get them done without too many interruptions given work, pre-reading for a couple of guys and editing for one of said guys.
First up, The Lost Element. I've just started this one, but it's been bugging me for a bit. I don't know how many people have played it, but the Darkling Room adventure game The Lost Crown is the seed for this one and since there aren't many that I've seen putting Spitfire into adventure mode - probably for not looking that much really - I thought I'd bag Spitfire of the Wonderbolts and toss in Nightshade of the Shadowbolts (specifically my fanon version of YoorPorick's Shadowbolts). After finding a lab dedicated to clandestine paranormal research, Nightshade bolts from Manehatten, leaving two of her teammates there. She finds herself on the train to Grey Marsh, a rural town in the middle of nowhere, Equestria, where Spitfire is also heading for a holiday and to do some ghost/treasure hunting for pleasure.
Of course, since this is somewhat based on the Lost Crown, once things get going, there will be ghosts aplenty popping up. I'm going with normal ponies on this one, and trying to use more or less modern tech for the ghost hunting, though what ghosts the duo will discover I don't know yet. Either way, it will be a ride they won't forget in a hurry.
Next is Shivering Ponies - terrible working title I know, but it sounds better than the file name at the moment. Anthro-ponies this time out, Dash and Twilight end up being bet by the others to spend the night in an abandoned mansion/museum on the edge of Mount Pegasus that is haunted by more than a few ghosts of its own, along with something much more evil, spectral vampires known as the Ixupi. Once again, I'm pulling from the Shivers game, but I'm going to spice things up a bit on it to muck with the rules and make things fit in-verse.
Lastly, Assassins of Equestria follows a quartet of Argonian assassins after being killed in their own world and resurrected in Equestria to reform the Brotherhood of the Moon and counter both the Dark Brotherhood and the Solar Templars. All four Argonians are from Oblivion, and should be somewhat recognisable to most of those that have played the game. Ex-Brotherhood members Teinaava and Ocheeva, the shadow twins from the Cheydenhal sanctuary, Scar-Tail, the exiled assassin for the Argonian court and Dar-Ma, once a shop-keeper's daughter, she became an assassin of a different breed in order to remove the stain of Hackdirt both from her soul and from the soil of Tamriel. As with Shivering Ponies, this one will have the Equestrians as anthros, more because it makes more sense to me that way than anything.
Now, I know there's more than a few cross-overs floating around already, but I would like to see a few specific ones. Primarily Dark Fall (another Darkling Room game), Ghost Master, Keepsake, maybe Bully, Might and Magic and some of the UFO After---- triology. Another fun one to play off of would be Realms of the Haunting. I'd also be interested in seeing a Zoids cross, maybe some other anime ones like Digimon (season 1-4 style)
In terms of characters and style (human, anthro or pony), it depends a lot on who is taking the challenge, however it should be something that makes sense for the way the world is written and not ripping off the entirety of the game/anime directly, mix things up a bit rather than just straight rips ponified.
