One of the stories I follow and enjoy is called "Wake up, see this, what do?" It is a comment driven story where the comments on each chapter dictate - to a certain extent - what happens in the next.
Another story is called, if I remember correctly, "Author's Torment." In it, the author attempts to write a story about Pinkie while she kibbitzes. Hilarity ensues.
I recently had an idea along a similar vein. It would be called "What Happens Next?"
Basic premise: all of the main six become aware in the first chapter that they are in a story...and a comment driven story at that. Comments would direct them to take certain actions. This would be followed by reactions to the directive, the directive being carried out, and then the reaction to having done so.
Overarching plot: Mane 6 struggle to last while trying to break the comment box so that they can be free.

This sounds like it would be a great Tumblr comic. I'm not sure how well it would work in a prose format, though.
Well I have seen it work on Tumblr. I will have to check out that other story you mentioned but this sounds like a fun idea.
Hope you have a lot of time on your hands though.
