That one day when Bradbury told me to go fuck myself.

    Written in slav-squat.

    Don’t talk about it; write.
    -Ray Bradbury, The Writer’s Digest

This quote. This quote made me take notice of one thing I've been doing lately way more than anyone should.

Lately, I'm only talking about writing.

    Light Rant and terrible names

This is me when seeing ponified city names.

Listen. Manehattan and Baltimare worked. Hoofinton, Trottingham and Vanhoover are flawless. Applelosa sounded like a legit normal city name.
Most of the official names given to us worked so far. Okay, Fillydelphia is a bit silly.

    Packing up.

    Carpe Diem.
This is a concept that our ancestors had very clear.
Seize the day. Live life one day at a time.

But in these times, we always try to find ways to tame this beast we call time, fantasizing about controlling it and traveling through it like the current of a river or the entrails of a giant snake which swallows everything in its way and forces it to flow back into reality.

    G1 Pony. Why the hate?

A blog post made by ladyarcana the other day made me ask myself this.
Why are the earlier generations hated?

Personally, I don't think it's a matter of paying respect to our elders.
You know what the reasons to this are, at least for me?
    Insecurity and quality.

On one side, insecurity is the reason for the brony dramas, the bashing and the fandom's pet peeves.

    I've made a huge mistake

So, I was here, browsing poni when I should be doing more important things with my life and dancing to Godflesh in my most ill-fitting one piece dress when I made a turn and hit a wall.

There is this one story about a new team of elements I was writing and noticed that:

    1. They take down a new bad guy almost each chapter I planned.

G1 Pony. Why the hate? · 6:59am May 14th, 2013

You know, the reason why nearly the entirety of all fics here are about war or murder and why there's so much delicate issues being tackled on FUCKING. MY LITTLE. PONY. FAN. FICTION.
Not that is bad, but you gotta admit that after the Nth story about scootaloo being an orphan, Fluttershy being a neglected transexual with anorexia, Pinkie going around killing every pony unlucky enough to cross her path or ponies fighting a war with guns between them instead of solving it with friendship, it can get pretty ridiculous.
As we know, a lot of the fandom is composed of men, mostly teenagers, and said men want to be perceived as these cool badasses that don't give a fuck and party hard and all that.
Why? Obviously because at that age we all want to cement our status as men in society and even after we choose to take this stupid dilemma in our hands, we want to be known as manly men, thus we feel that liking happy pastel horse is uncompatible with being a man when what we like has nothing to do with being a man or grown up.
Sad, ain't it?

On the other hand, quality.
You have the fact that Friendship is Magic ocurred on the right place, on the right circumstances and it just exploded.
That's not to say that FiM is without is own merits, these being most notably the characters and the writing; but it came and it was possibly the best animated show on TV by the time of its premiere and I'm most of the time not sure about how to feel about it.

Now, G3.5 was just atrocious, although it, along with G3, brought some cool ponies to the table(Toola Roola, Cheerilee, Scootaloo, Minty, Kimono, etc)that the more dedicated fans miss; it was a staple of how low would a show for little girls was willing to go for the sake of sheer target audience appeal.
And the after taste from it still lingers and adds to the initial prejudice that G1 brought upon My Little Pony and which had been dragged on by most franchises targeted towards girls.

You know? Although G1 had some wicked villains, characters who even on their position of impotence fought for their friends and an interesting setting, the delivery was lousy. And that's being generous.

The one responsible human had to make sure, daily, that the goddamn ponies didn't get killed by everything.
Witches, demons, archdemons, dragons, warlords, lichs; if it gave you nightmares or can give you nightmares to this date, it tried to kill, eat, maim, turn into glue, drown, etc. the ponies.
And while this had potential, in the end it was just the ponies being generally retarded and surviving just because of asspulls or deus ex machina.
Applejack being the mascot of Ladytron didn't help either.

This fandom has passed through so much in such a short time that at times it's hard to remember where did this came from.
From the days of comfortable surprise on /co/ to the more mature and selective fandom of today; passing by the weird porn and the pony memetic saturation that turned us fromthose loveable goofballs to the autistic scourge of the internet to the astonishing success and spread of some fan content.

And for all that, this fandom and the first fandom are completely different monsters, but both of them deserve the same respect.
Especially from our ranks.
Just see it as a matter of, well, empathy.

We both like the same thing even if our angles are different.

And guys, just in case, don't forget it's just a show.
Yeah, we obsess over it enough to write odes and epics about it, but it's still just a show.

Heh. Another essay on small horse friends.

The biggest reason nobody likes the earlier generations was because back they actually looked like horses and not overtly stylized quadrupedal supermodels.

Also, no offense, but the point about all depressing MLP fics being made because the writers felt a happy fic wasn't manly enough was both irrelevant and, in most cases, couldn't be further from the truth.
