    Three Years in the Making

    Greetings, all!

According to the little blurb in the statistics section, SoaP was originally published on 8 September 2012. That's slightly more than three years ago. High time, I thought, for a sequel!

    Story Time

Well, this has been a productive couple of weeks for me. When I mentioned having some unfinished stories sitting around, I didn't realize just how much I had. Celestia and Apple Bloom, Celestia and Luna, Twilight and Applejack, Twilight and Rainbow Dash, Celestia and Celestia...

    Unpublishing E4E

Hello, all. I have a bit of news, for those of you who have been following me for a while, and I'm afraid it's not good.

    How Strong is Celestia?

Once again, it seems I have decided to dedicate considerable thought and mathematical analysis to a show about pastel-colored, magical, cartoon horses. My target this time is that loftiest of targets, subject of infinite speculation and praise: Princess Celestia herself.

Equestria Girls? · 1:42am May 6th, 2013

No, no physics analysis this time. I'm working on one involving relative oxygen concentrations, but it's slow going. Instead, Equestria Girls.

I'm going to watch it. In theaters, if remotely possible. Yes, I've read the synopsis. You may flame and/or deride me at your leisure shortly. First, though, I'd like to give my reasons for wanting to see it (which is a bit weird to say, I suppose; in my case, though, the default reaction to a new movie announcement is complete apathy).

The first is that it might actually be good. Shocking, I know. Still, I trust the writers. Even with the apparently overwhelming negative reactions to the synopsis, though, I'm interested in the premise. Will Twilight have to learn to walk on two legs? What about human social norms? How, exactly, will she enrol in a high school without (presumably) any records existing of her, and what does that mean about pony aging? Apparently, only Twilight will be traveling through the portal; how will she introduce herself to humans with uncanny resemblances to her friends? How will the political relations of both worlds be affected? I'd watch the movie almost regardless of quality just for official answers to some/all of these questions.

Also (third, I guess?), it's pony. Okay, so it's human, but it's part of the pony franchise. I am a creature of tradition; it's really hard for me to change my ways. While that makes it hard for me to get into something new, it means that I take those things I am involved with very seriously. I contributed to Bronies (the documentary), I buy the comics, I've read The Crystal Heart Spell (which I can't wholeheartedly recommend). Pony is a serious part of my life, and you have to take the good with the bad sometimes. If Equestria Girls turns out good anyway, so much the better.

Well I have my doubts about it, but I am going to give it a chance at least. And I definitely will see it in theaters if possible :twilightblush:

Also on The Crystal Heart Spell what was wrong with it? I haven't read it yet but I was planning on buying it at some point in the next week or so.....though I may end up reading it in store while I wait for my friends to be done trying to find some rare, mystical treasure in a book :ajbemused:

Well, quite apart from it being very obviously for young readers, and despite a very nice Derpy cameo, I didn't like the way it handled certain things. Without spoiling too much, I can say that a certain unicorn is treated, to my mind, rather unfairly. She's been denied some valuable character growth, and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh, no, I'm referring to The Crystal Heart Spell in my comment. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
