So I've been rereading some of my work, and I'm realizing that the readability is kind of rough. You can get what is going on, the clarity is there more or less, but there are a lot of wacky sentences and missing words.
To the point: I edit my own work. So I do a ton of browsing over the words just checking for spelling, grammar and those darn comma placements (which I still suck at picking out).
I just found out that I had deleted a whole paragraph from chapter 3 about the door that opened into the ninja basement and how Octavia had to get into a rather awkward position on the stairs to pull it shut before she complained about it... I have no idea where that paragraph went.
Anyway: Since I'm the one doing the editing, I browse a lot and miss a lot of the readability points. I've tried looking for a dedicated editor to help me with all my work, but so far I've come up with not much. I have some friends who are always willing to help out a bit but they have their own agenda and plans a lot of the time.
So, I'm going to keep at this, I plan on rereading chapter 5 out loud tomorrow to see how well I'm coming along. But until I can find someone to help with reading/idea expansion/etc... I apologize for the noob level writing. Everything always seems to make sense to me, but when I get an RL friend to read it back out loud I find that some dialog could have been much better, or a description could have been much stronger... or, or, yea the list goes on.
I'm working at getting better, writing is a boatload of fun, but it's going to take some time before I become the next SS&E. Thanks a bunch for reading, it's amazing how motivating followers and comments are.
Also, if you read all that, or, at least scrolled to the bottom here, I commend you. You probably actually care about my story enough to deserve this totally amazing spoiler that I'm totally going to make happen in some upcoming chapter.
