Some changes regarding Spike · 4:18pm Apr 8th, 2013
Alrighty so, there will be changes. I hinted at it multiple times, but now I will go official with this.
I said that there will be a sequel but that is not 100% true. It's more like. This story is the prequel to the other story. Now this sounds strange, but let me give you a little more info. The Spike story will end very soon. No worries, this does not mean shit. It's just that i went so far away from the original idea that I need to make another one that goes for probably the rest of the story.
This story will be a little different. Let me tell you of some of the changes.
- While this story has ~50k, the new one can't be put in under 100k.
- I will change from First Person View to a somewhat strange Third-First Person point of view. This is actually what I used in my first story. It basically is a third person POT from the POT of a character. You will see what I mean.
- Rating will be Teen.
- Comedy tag will get removed. NOT because there won't be any comedy anymore. It will probably have the same amount, but without the tag I don't feel forced to put as much jokes as possible into it.
- It will be a lot more like my first story.
Basically, this new story will revolve around Spike searching in the whole world for a good home. There will be comrades, complications, evil dudes and other stuff. Also, problems won't always be solved with peace and running away. It will be more like a real adventure.
I just see me often enough thinking about changing the story dramatically and making it more serious, then I see the everyone tag and the comedy tag and only think... I can't do that.... and write something different.
Most of you won't like this change. You wanted a fun story about sarcastic Spike, not some kind of life changing huge adventure. Sadly, I can't write this. I can't write Slice of Life, and small unepic adventures to hold to the "everyone" rating are not my style. Whenever I send some monsters, bad guys or anything remotely dangerous after Spike, I always clutch my head. "What can I do? I can either let him run away, or fight them with silly cheap comic attacks. I am not allowed to use blood, I am not allowed to really injure them, i am not allowed to let Spike get injured."
With the new fic, these barricades will get obliterated and I can FINALLY make some more realistic approaches towards encounters. The ones that read the Spike story that followed me even before I wrote it will probably like the change, since they followed me because of my first story, mostly.
To give a positive node here, I am finally able to plan ahead with this story. While I blindly wrote into the chapter and used ideas as they came, I can now write with a plan.
Hope not too many people will defav or simply ignore the Sequel that will get on its ways in some time.
I'm more of an adventure and action type of guy myself I can't wait see what you come up with.

First chapter and stuff. Probably a little bit longer than normal. I expect it to be published in 1 - 2 weeks, but I won't give a specific time.
I don't know why you had the "Comedy" tag in the first place. The story wasn't comedic, it was random. There should have been a "Random" tag instead. Do you really not know the difference between Comedy and Random? Just because it's random doesn't mean it's comedy. The two often overlap, but they are not the same.
On FiMFiction's FAQ page under the section labeled "What do each of the categories mean?", it describes the Random tag as: "A random-tagged story will contain major elements in storytelling that reflect a lack of logic in how they came to be."

You obviously have not the same kind of humor than me.
Of course, there were some wtf elements, but I mostly tried to get a chuckle out of the reader through a small witty snark or the general behavios of him. There are a lot of people who can laugh at that.
Also, I read the FAQ often enough and I am a regular in IRC on this site, so I know if the comedy tag is appropriate or not.
I knew that not everyone would laugh at the jokes I put in there, but that someone doesn't even realize that I am trying to be comedic is kinda sad from my part. It's like I tell a joke and someone completely understands it, but sees absolutely 0 humor in this and doesn't even know it was a joke.
Well not everyone has the same humor.

I get your point about not having the same humor, so I conce that the Comedy tag should stay. Your humor is much too subtle for me to understand.
However, I still think you need a Random tag.

Sadly, my wtf is not wtf and much enough to get a random tag. I read enough random tags to know when it is appreciated. 3 incidents with strange timberwolves and one poison joke poisoning is not enough to put the whole story under a random tag.
it's like saying it needs a sad tag due to some sad scenes in there.
