wreck it ralph and background pony comparisons (warning, contains spoilers)

okay, firstly, this contains spoilers to both background pony and wreck it Ralph. I recommend both before you read, because they'er both brilliant.
that aside, let's get started...
while I was watching, I noticed a similarity between both Lyra heartstrings and Vanellope von Schweetz.
both are imprisoned inside a area that they wish to leave by an invisible force, both have a change of freedom that requires the completion of something that they love. both are blocked from this freedom by the rules of the land. they also are very powerful, and their curse can be used to their advantage. they are also both young girls, who are pretty tragic when you think about it (though less thought is required with background pony).
I think is the film had been marketed towards adults, the movie would have taken a far darker approach, simile to background pony.
