Motivational Strategies? · 5:52pm Mar 19th, 2013
I'm sitting in Law Society right now doing absolutely nothing, other than writing this blog, obviously.
It's just that . . I should be writing . . right?
The urge to write never comes to me at a time that makes sense, honestly.
Are there any strategies that you use to motivate yourself, or stay motivated?
Honestly, I suffer from serious motivational issues to the point that I need medication for it.
That said, I find that just opening up gdocs--or your writing program of choice--and just tapping buttons helps. Like, don't look at it like you are going to write. I'll just see what I have, kinda lazily make some edits and additions... then go from there.
Music, pressure, bets, internal schedules, 30-minute prompts and such all help as well, from what I've seen.

I might try a couple of those.
IRL, a friend of mine constantly jokes that I have "terrible grammar", and that I should "just quit" writing.
It's a good source of motivation, for me, at least, to have someone inspire me in ways that allow me to laugh at myself - most of the time for trying too hard.
You, without a doubt, have law society.

Yes, at this very moment
i usually carry a book with me around school or anywhere and whenever an idea stricks me i start writing the next chapter to my story, i have a whole story in a jernal now...well 4 chapters

Do you write down any idea that comes into your head?

yes

That's a lesson for me to learn
To be honest, I only write down about 60% of the stuff that comes to my mind.
The stuff that doesn't get written down is lost forever

then keep a book with you, you might need those 40% later on! the jernal used to be my diary, then i thre away the crappy diary entires and started writing my story in it, all i ever wrote about was my puppy anyway and how she hated me

I will take this to heart.
