I've gotten stuck at a particular part of B:TOH, right in the middle of a conversation with onewa and the CMC. Which figures, since I'm socially awkward as f**k o.o. Gonna dive back into it, but first, I'd like to try something. I hope it's no big secret that I read WAY more than I write. Remind me again how many favorites I have? Anyhoo, I'm always wanting to gush to people about how awesome certain fics are and recommend them, but I only know about 3 bronies IRL. One is my cousin; she's several years younger than me, so she's not big on reading, preferring to draw pony art instead. My best friend introduced MLP to me, but watches the show as more of a hobby, though he buys a lot of merchandise. And my LBBFF prefers reading Ninja Turtles or Mario fanfiction. I don't think he'd even read my stuff if I didn't force him to proof for errors. Then I thought to myself this morning: Dude, the people on fimfiction read ponies. No duh. I've been here how many months again? So, without further ado...

This fic is Comedy/Adventure/Slice of Life/Human. The description is as follows:
"Humans. Truth or myth? Ancient lost civilization or just an old pony's tale? No pony has ever seen one, and most haven't even heard of them. But Lyra knows that these wonderful creatures are more than just old legends, and she's going to find out... and possibly drive her roommate insane in the process."
I don't like to spoil plots, but the following image gives a surpisingly accurate nut-shell of the story:
Yeah. Matrix. I went there. It's that good. Seriously, I only started reading 2 nights ago. Last night, I woke up at 4 in the morning and sat in bed for 3 hours thinking about how it was gonna end. I finished earlier today, and had to gush.
Anyway, one of the reasons I like this story is because of Lyra. Even if you toss out everything the fandom made up about her, the crazy stuff we see her doing in the show gives one a good understanding of just how awesome Lyra is. She's cheerful, and loves excitement. Between her face in Winter wrap up, the way she sits, and the fact that for the entire time Twilight battles Trixie in season three, Lyra acted like it was for her entertainment, I would make the point that Lyra is best background pony. And this fic does an amazing job of keeping not just her, but every background pony's character true to their TV counterpart. I'm sorry people, but based on her in-show dialogue, Bon-Bon technically is a little bit of a B-word. This story also does a good job of establishing the history of humans in equestria, and how the ponies' view of humans is similar to our view of unicorns. We get an appearance from the god of chaos and cotton candy clouds, and address real, deep topics such as why war happens, and Lyra even wonders why we are so interested magic worlds when our technology is almost superior to theirs. At the same time, Bon-Bon wonders why Lyra is interested in our world when theirs is so much more safe and peaceful. This story goes about making deep and meaningful points about life in a series of amusing jokes, while keeping the audience engaged with action, intrigue, and realistic characters and events. Discounting the darker history of humans in equestria section, this story maintains the innocence I've come to love in MLP, No one in-story ever hears about My Little Pony, so I definitely recommend this story if you are looking for a non-meta human-in-equestria/pony-on-earth fic.
So what do you think of my first review? I'm thinking of making this a weekly/every-other-week thing. Then again, thats what I said about Toa of Harmony. There are a lot stories on Fimfiction to write reviews about though. And if you have the time, go read Anthropology. at 130,000 words, with about 3000 words per chapter, it took me less than a weekend. It's no Fallout or Background Pony, that's for sure.
