    Atonement in Chinese

No one but me might ever care, but care I do: Atonement has been translated into Chinese. It's been done in two parts, which I found here:

    Part One

    Part Two

I'm sure those reading this will have already caught wind of the announcement for the Fimfiction Charity Drive stream event, and already made plans to watch and donate, but just in case you haven't had a chance to look at

    Galacon Ludwigsburg!

I'm so excited I could burst!

I haven't drafted a proper personal schedule yet; right now I want to go to everything, so if anyone has directions to the Mirror Pond they'd be willing to share, I'm all ears.

    About It's Also About Time

Ooh, a blog thing, where I get to talk about things that no one else is going to care about, except maybe those curious enough about me to get here! That would be you, by the way. Hello. Ooh, a blog thing, where I get to talk about things that no one else is going to care about, except maybe those curious enough about me to get here! That would be you, by the way. Hello. I'm tickled pink you're here! I have posted precisely one story so far, so I'll assume you've read it. (If you haven't, that's okay too? Please consider it. It's a time travel story you might not have read yet a thousand times.)

So, some stuff to talk about! There are massive spoilers here, by the way. Like you wouldn't believe.

(This is all stuff I'm just royally curious about how readers see it, and compiling this will hopefully get me to stop wondering about that all the time.)

- Twilight yelling "My RUMP!". Thumbs up, thumbs down, average?
- I played Magic: The Gathering once too often before I started writing. Does it show?
- Merrok! (Remember what the name means?) I created him to serve as a foil to Twilight, and pretty much nothing else. Did that work? In alternative timeline in which I started writing this story after having seen Magical Mystery Cure, I probably could have used Starswirl the Bearded instead; would you pick that alternative timeline, given the choice?
- Spot the Luna. She never got a place in the limelight like her sister Celestia, but she was at least as important. Did you spot her? How often?
- How did Twilight know Merrok's tail was an alternate magic catalyst?

- And of course: Do you think Twilight's choice was right? Do you think it was wrong? Do you think it's the choice your Twilight would have made?

In order, then.

Thumbs down. This expression really doesn't work as well in bowdlerized form. It's kinda hard to tell whether she's expressing defiance or was suddenly stung on the flank.

Since I know next to nothing about Magic: The Gathering, no, I didn't notice.

No, I don't know what Merrok means. The internet only points to a 'Star Trek' reference. Since I know next to nothing about Star Trek (other than a few bits and pieces of the original series), I'm not getting it. As generic gloating villains go, he works pretty well. I mean, he lets you sneak in a little worldbuilding at the same time. Definitely a plus. As for Starswirl... I'm not quite sure how that would work. Given that he lived so long ago that Luna recognized him from Twilight's costume. He would... what, go forward in time at least a millenium, in order to send Twilight even further forward? Or would Twilight just run across yet another incomplete work and screw up a spell? Again?

I only spotted her the once, in the oblique reference when everyone is crying in the conference room. Of course, I really wasn't looking.

She studied. Naturally.

And of course she made the right choice. Bending time streams is bad juju. Since the counterspell supposedly actually erases the effect completely (well, as far as the space-time continuum is concerned, anyway), that's the way to go. From the more personal perspective, she shows enough faith in her friends and herself not to settle for 'good enough'.
