It is definitely my least favorite finale so far. The beginning had a lot of plot holes, and the ending was very rushed. The songs were amazing though. Those songs kept this episode from being shit. I'm giving it a 7/10 for now. I say for now because I'm waiting to see how the season 4 opener addresses things. If they answer the more grueling questions I'll raise it to an eight.

This whole season felt like a terribly written fanfic.
Honestly, my Alicorn fic is probably better fitting into canon than the finale. No links given, though, because I don't like shameless promotion. Rueful or cheeky promotion are more my style.

I wouldn't say the whole season, but something is fishy about the end. I feel that spell she cast at the end will end up biting her in the flank.

But what I mean about the whole season being like a fanfic is that Spike was terribly OOC during the episode where he was helping Applejack. The way characters were just dropped all together, whether onto us like Babs Seed (cool kid, bad voice actor, such an OC), or out of the picture (like Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity, and I believe Fluttershy as well, in a lot of the episodes. They kinda shuffled out...), strikes me as bad writing, like what you see in fics where a certain character that would be good to have in a scene is inexplicably missing, and there;s no reason for it.
It'd be like reading Cupcakes, but Pinkie's instead torturing Applejack, or some other pony that's an OC who's completely disconnected from what's happening, like they just don't care. I dunno. This season just left a bad taste in my mouth.

853129 Well, Spike was definitely a clumsy bafoon at times when he hasn't been one in any other episode. Twilight fell back into habits that she'd learned lessons about already. Rarity was a bit off, though not quite OOC.Soooo many MacGuffins and other such one-time mentions. Timberwolves were cool, though. Exactly how I pictured them.
