First, a confession: I haven't done any FiM-related writing since the Twilicorn drama started. What drew me to the FiM fandom was both the creativity and the fun of interacting with other fans. I didn't think that Twilight getting wings could totally kill the second part of that equation, but it nearly did for me. As much as I love FiM, the news of the change didn't bother me much. But a lot of the reactions I saw did. Even worse than the fans who acted like Princess Twilight would be the end of everything good and beautiful in the world were the fans who seemed to be reveling in the others' unhappiness. It became obvious that large swaths of the MLP fandom hadn't learned any of the lessons the show has attempted to teach.
All of that ugliness left me without much desire to think about ponies when they weren't on TV (or when another issue of the comic hadn't just come out). Which is too bad, because watching and reading about ponies is something I want to do a lot more of. I still love the show and the comics, and I still love a certain segment of the fandom (namely those who handled the whole dumb situation with humor and a positive outlook). Now that the finale is over, hopefully everyone can chill the hell out...at least until SDCC when the humanized ponies spin-off gets officially revealed, and everyone loses it all over again. Not looking forward to that at all.
(A word of advice, if I may. Ponies should be fun. If you're not having fun watching ponies anymore, there's plenty of other stuff to do with your time that won't cause you so much angst.)
Anyway, my priority for now is to finish Three Wishes (I'm about halfway there, if I stick to my original outline), but I do want to start working on something else in tandem with it. My first idea, which was going to be called Get Twilight, was totally broken by the combination of Keep Calm and Flutter On and the finale. But trust me, it was going to be amazing, with tons of action and FlutterTwi shipping.
Now I'm kicking around another idea, which will be a sort-of-sequel to my previous story, If a Pony Catch a Pony, but I'm not sure if I want it to star Rainbow Dash or Applejack. I'm actually leaning toward AJ after the finale, which made me like her way more than I ever have before, for reasons that are too wordy to get into when I've already been rambling on. If I decide to pull the trigger on it, I'll have the first chapter up by the end of March.
