I have a confession to make...

    I'm actually...not...DEAD, per se.

PHEW! Am I glad I got that off my chest!

That being said, I got a few nice private messages after that blog post, and it was really great to read after a long, exhausting day. I want to say thanks, again, to the people who messaged me!

Watched todays MLP episode...watch out, spoilers ^_^

I liked it. Discord can be a very interesting character! Though, now my husband keeps telling me that Discord ships Rarijack -_- I think Discord ships himself with Twilight =/ ANYWAYS!!

Did anyone else think of "It's Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door" towards the end of the episode?

...And I can't sleep.

I always feel bad when I post a blog post that has nothing to do with a story I've written or in the process of writing...

I'm completely unfocused at the moment, too. Not just at this hour of the night, but in general.

....anyways....

They say that the best time to be creative is when you're tired because your mind is more likely to make connections that it wouldn't make when it's bright and alert.

I have a book called "The 3 A.M. Epiphany", and it has a bunch of writing prompts in it. I took it out just now because it's 3 AM, and although that's not mandatory in the usage of this book, I felt it was all too appropriate.

So when I'm trying NOT to think about writing another clop fic prompt for myself which may end up half finished on my computer desk top, I open up this book and find prompt #49 entitled "intimacy"

*face desk*

*reads the prompt*

Okay, not what I thought it was, but intriguing all the same. Might just have to write it. It says to write it as 600 words...hmm.

Anyways, this time-wasting blog has been brought to you by Callisto! *insert catchy slogan here*

......Man, I should really be sleeping, now...

Edit:
Yay! So I did a prompt, about writing about two people in love who know each other so well, they can practically read each other's minds. The whole idea of the promt, I guess, is to show how this couple can communicate so well and know each other so intimately. They suggested to try and go a different approach with it, like being hyper-analytical, pseudo-scientific, or doing it through the eyes of a jealous friend.

I chose the latter ^_~ And I wrote a rough draft. We'll see tomorrow, when I'm rested and clear headed, if it's worth anything. But the prompt did it's job. I have created something, and now I'm tired and ready for bed! At 4 in the morning >_< Soooo, goodnight, y'all! Oh, and try the prompt out if you would like. 600 word maximum! Now! Sleep...

i'm up. got up a bit ago. though it's 5 30 right now.... morning. :pinkiecrazy:

810383 I haven't slept yet, but you have!! *envy* Good morning to you!

810384 there's a bright side; if you stay up all day today, you'll sleep twice as hard tonight! :pinkiecrazy::pinkiecrazy::pinkiecrazy:

810388 Ugh, no, I have to meet with a client later today, I should get SOME sleep. And I go a little Pinkie-insane if I stay up all night.

Yea I can't really sleep that much either. :derpytongue2:

810394 Want a writing prompt? I have plenty ^_~ Or you can use the one I'm using~~

Sleep is for the weak! :flutterrage: At leadt you'll have that crash into a deep sleep after no sleep! Should get some sleep though, sleeplessness leads to hallucinations!

813496 Well, I did get sleep. And ugh, let's not talk about hallucinations. That's a frightening thing to witness.

3 AM cause you can't sleep? Psh, I've stayed up to 5 AM just because I can on multiple occasions :pinkiecrazy:

815555 I've stayed up until 5 AM because I was trying to finish something or because I was in the middle of a writing/drawing frenzy. The last time I stayed up until about 5 AM, I was writing out a scene that had been in my head for months, and it took me HOURS to write it down because I had to do some research for it. It was fun ^_^ I like nights when that happen. But it's not really sustainable ^_^;

815818 When you sleep in till between 12 and 3 PM no matter when you go to bed, you stop caring about trying to sleep before 2 AM. Or maybe that's just me.

815833 Eh, my schedule is too unpredictable to risk it. Most days, I can probably sleep in, but keeping my sleep schedule that I get up ATLEAST before 10 is best. Then I won't be too zoned out when I have to wake up at 7.

815842 Fair enough. Getting used to being up before 10 five days a week didn't help me be any less tired, so I just don't bother keeping it when I don't have to.

I'm seriously thinking about getting the 3AM Epiphany book. Did you find it really was worth it?

819580 Well, I'm really fond of prompt books as opposed to finding prompts online, cause I can just pull out a book rather than surfing the internet for one, so I really like it. And it gives you challenges meant to improve your writing, not just give you an idea of what to write. Like one they have is for you to do research on a subject you know nothing about, then to write a story after having done this research, but write it in a way that doesn't show you've done research. So, yeah ^_^ Here's a link to the amazon page if you wanna have a looksy: The 3 AM Epiphany

819601 Thanks very much for the info; I'm seriously considering it. I port all of the FiMFIC stories I read to my Kindle anyway, so this is tempting...

819663 Well, if you DO get it, I hope you enjoy it ^_^ And hopefully not be up at 3 AM to read it ^_^;

819788 I am so trying not to stay up until 3am tonight. I've been doing everything but write (I'm actually looking over the Author's Help section, making sure I haven't created some horrible Mary Sue character), and I'm itching to write even though I have no particular inspiration at the moment. I think I'll decide whether or not to buy the book when it's daylight, otherwise I'll just read it and start working until 4am, and that'll end up hurting a lot.
:facehoof:

819796 You know, there is a "Mary Sue" test out there online...it's VERY comprehensive...here: http://www.springhole.net/writing/marysue.htm I'm sure there are shorter ones out there, though. I once did the test with a character I created when I was in high school. My. God. She was practically the epitome of a Mary Sue. So I made massive changes to her. I mean, I was so attached to her in high school, but now, she is so much more interesting as a character.

819805 Yeah, I hear that. I like the idea of character flaws, but it's too easy to write perfect characters. I started off doing that with a story I canned last month, and when I looked closer at the character I'd created... Well, it was embarrassing. It was a good lesson, though.
Thanks for the link, it looks interesting. I'll throw my characters at it in the actual morning and see what happens. :twilightoops:

819805 Hey thanks again for the book ref and the Mary Sue test link. I bought the book, and have started reading into it. I also apparently did extremely well creating the primary character in my most recent effort (according to the site, anyway), though I'm not 100% satisfied with it or with the story itself.

I think I'll just shelve them all until I have more experience writing other, shorter stories to improve myself with. Hopefully this book (and other guides I have) will guide me well enough to make that count.

821434 Yeah, it's always good to take time on your stories if you don't think they're ready, but important to know that sometimes writing it out can also help the stories. I had this one story that I could not quite figure out what personality to give one of the main characters. After writing it out, it turned out he was a bit of a prankster, and not at all as serious as i thought he would be, which brought a lot more color to the story. Anyways....

No problem on that! It's sooo easy to make Mary Sue's, sometimes >_< Have fun with the book!
