I'm a little peeved, but I'm not exactly hindered. Eh, my story isn't filling the holes with canon anymore, but hey, it's still happenin', and nothin's gonna change.

It's fine. All this means is that your story is in a different universe than the show. Now you can do pretty much anything you want, as long as you write it in well enough. This just opened lots of doors for you.
