    Hello? Is this thing on?

Hmmm... it's been what? 6 months since I've shown any activity whatsoever? Geez that's really sad. However I am turning 1 year old on Fimfiction in about a week (or maybe it's 2 years, honestly I have no clue.) As you can see I'm still alive, so if you were concerned, don't be. As far as writing goes I started like 5 different one shots and have halfway completed most of them in the past 6

    I wanna know....

Why Scootaloo isn't in some sort of flight school/camp. She is clearly of or around the same age as Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy when they were in it. I just wonder why she is not, she would most likely benefit from the experience.

    Girl's are funny

A lot of girl's, atleast where I live, think that Bronies are odd or weird. I find this odd, the show teaches kindness, loyalty, generosity, honesty, and happiness. I'm pretty sure those are all qualities that would be good in a potential partner. just a thought

Pony Blogs, Random Thoughts, and Personal stuff · 2:39am Feb 3rd, 2013

I delved into this subculture today and have to say that it is really amazing but horribly painful. I found it really interesting, but trying to enjoy it at this point in the fandom, at the end of season 3, is impossible. The sheer number of pony blogs and the time they have been out has led to crossovers, collabs, and inter/multidimensional story-lines rivaling that of Marvel and DC combined.

It really is an amazing thing though, great writers, artists, comedians, all working separately but together in this tight knit bubble of pony blog community. The stories told there are an eclectic range of romance, adventure, comedy, clop, grim-dark; and they manage to create the aforementioned crossovers and collabs seamlessly.

Truly it is something to behold, but I will not get into it for the same reason I no longer read comics. Time. I waited too long and the amount of cross-referencing required to fully understand the complexities of these interconnected yet fundamentally separate story-lines is too taxing. I barely have time to update my own unfinished stories. I have half a chapter just sitting in my writing folder begging to be finished.

I doubt anyone else really cares about this but I found it fascinating that everyone has managed to make contact with each other and still maintain independence but yet have interwoven stories. It truly is a marvel, one that I recommend if you have the time and really enjoy fact checking and cross-referencing things.

Also lately I've been thinking about shipping and the amount of work that really needs to go into it in order for it to be realistic and interesting. Now I have always nurtured the idea of writing a story that involved moderate shipping in order to broaden my scope as a writer. This would naturally involve my OC, how creative I know, and a pony I felt I knew and understood better than most others, that being Rainbow Dash. Now I have seen a lot of Dash shipping and though a lo of it is decent I feel that authors are ignoring fundamental things that would be a part of that relationship, mostly struggle. I personally see that Dash would be the kind of girl who in real life would over extend herself in this situation, being the element of loyalty and all. She would be in a constant state of flux, trying to balance a personal life and that of her friends.

Now depending on the shipping this would lead to problems. Most shippers live on the tied to the hip phenomenon, that two shipped characters are inseparable. This would mean that Dash is now handicapped by this other pony who may or may not be adding anything useful to the situation. This does two things, it 1) would lead to a conflict within Dash as to who to be loyal to, a situation that I have never seen although all the signs are there in may fics; and 2) That the shipped pony in question becomes a nuisance and has no identity of their own other than Rainbow's BF/GF, which is a common thing I've read.

If you have an pony who has their own identity outside of the shipping, as I intended to do with mine, then you create different problems. Now sticking to the pony of my choice, you lead yourself into more struggle. Rainbow is competitive, tomboyish, and headstrong. These are fundamental traits to her character and widely known personality flaws; yet these things tend to disappear as soon as people start shipping. A relationship with Dash, especially a Heterosexual relationship, would be one of constant flux. It would be a never ending pursuit of power, one person always strugling to be the lead. At least is the case in a real relationship between people like Dash. Now my OC being independent and competitive himself leads to these problems and I foresee that if I were to write this it would be necessary to demonstrate this type of relationship. It is not one that I see commonly, it has to be done properly but if done in that matter would be much more realistic and completely true to character.

A relationship with Rainbow in wrting has to be one where it is an independent relationship, one where your character has an identity and purpose outside that of Rainbow Dash. It would need to be a relationship fueled by adrenaline and one-upmanship, because the locus of power is constantly changing. It would be one riddled with minor and major disagreements, painful breakups and hopelessly romantic make-ups. This is the way I think would best portray a realistic and in character Dash shipping.

Sorry that was just buzzing in the back of my head and needed to be released.

In other news, I have been super bored lately and found myself with nothing to do. It would appear that the people I thought were my friends just a few months ago really have no interest in my company when we are not forced together by school. Hopefully now that I'm back in college I can find some better friends, hopefully guys cause I get very close to girls and I doubt my girlfriend in PA would appreciate that. Plus I've never had many guy friends growing up, girls are just more agreeable it seems. However I don't attempt to understand the people in my life, I merely enjoy their company.

I'm in search of work, applications are a pain. Can't wait to finish nursing school, get a job in an instant, easy money and long hours thanks to Ca. shortages on male nurses. Sadly that's a year or two away and I need money now. Like I mentioned before there really is no gain in being a writer except that of the mind and soul, luckily that's what keeps me at it, but it'll be taking a backseat to other things probably. Like the joke goes, "What's the difference between a park bench and a writer..... A park bench can support a family."

However I'm still studying writing on the side, while I take my general ed and beyond that. My love for reading and writing will never die, I still hope to have work published and continually edit and add to my Non-pony story when the time arises. That all being said, my fanfics are taking a hit and as much as I love writing them they probably will remain on hiatus for awhile with infrequent updates, The good news is that you should expect semi-frequent complete one shots from me just to keep my skills from getting rusty.

Well this turned out to be a much longer and more personal post than I intended. Most of you will probably look at it and see TL;DR which is fine. I don't blame you, I'm not all that interesting of a guy. Well thanks for checking up on me, I enjoy our little chats and finding out what you're all up to as well. See you all in the future.
