Were the changelings evil or just desperate? · 7:10pm Feb 2nd, 2013
Hello again.
I've seen a lot of stories where the reason the changelings attacked because they were desperate for food. I think that's a bit wrong.
To my knowledge, Love isn't the changelings primary food source. Chrysalis states in the season 2 finale that by devouring the love equestria has, they would gain more power. I think love is a power source for them, not what they need to survive. Heck, Chrysalis overpowered Celestia because of Shining armor's love.
Now, i never watched the season finale all the way through, but what i have seen offer's no hints that Chrysalis's people were starving. I should also note that if they were starving, 1. how come they didnt come and talk to Celestia peacefully? and 2. Could a starving army sack bucking Canterlot?
Now, i like the good changeling thing as much as the next pony, but i don't think the changelings attacked because they were desperate for food. I think they attacked because they wanted power. Just keep that in mind.
