A Month Past and Future Stories · 5:47am Feb 2nd, 2013
One month ago, I released "One Hearth's Warming Eve", a story based on the song that shared the same name by Aviators. Though it was a tiny story in comparison to what I'm used to writing, I was satisfied with the results.
How about a little history lesson, hmm?
Only days after the song was released, I set out to write a fanfic based on it. It had inspired me much like a previous song of his, "Home", but I'll get to that later in this blog. Anyway, I had the idea in my head. How I wanted it to start, how I wanted it to end, and the song pretty much laid the foundations of that story. The difficulty wasn't in necessarily writing it, but more planning it. I was scared that I wouldn't do the song justice, as I am still learning many things in crafting a great story. But, according to many of those who commented, I did do the song justice, and I'm proud that I was able to.
Now then, what's my plans now? I've got many stories floating around in my head, and I would love to write every single one of them. The only problem is that I am completely lost as to which one I want to work on first. When you have so many ideas that you're excited about, it becomes easy to get lost in that forest. So, I want to look to my readers to help me answer this question, if that's alright with you all.
Below I'll name a few stories and brief descriptions for each:
Changeling Overdue (WIP title):
Intended to be a one-shot.
It's the big day: the Royal Wedding. Shops all across Canterlot close their doors early to prepare for the grand occasion. All accept one Library.
The head librarian refuses to close access to literature so early, and opts to keep the doors open to the public for a few hours longer before heading off himself to prepare for the celebrations. Little does he know the public consists of more than just ponies...
NOTE: If you'd like to know what this librarian looks like, just check my avatar. Ignore the Caisius in the picture, but look at the feather... That's a Quill. That OC's name is Quill Wing.
Never Stop Smiling:
Intended to be a one-shot.
Rainbow Dash is woken up from her sleep by a certain energetic, pink pony, who is excited to help her friend with a new series of tricks. But, a day full of excitement turns much darker in an instant.
NOTE: This story is based off a picture I saw a long time ago. It was really sad, but also had me asking questions. I'm scared of releasing this one, because it requires... Well, you'll see. Here's the picture.
Also, I am aware there was a story based on that picture already written. I haven't read it, but friends have told me it's nothing like my idea for it, so I'm going to push ahead if I decide to write it.
Daring Do and the Serpent's Eye
Intended to be an on-going story.
Daring Do is tasked by a Canterlot museum to find an ancient artifact capable of giving its wielder the power of possession. Daring is interested, and lends her hoof in obtaining it. However, along the way she finds that there are more powers in play than she could have imagined, and her quest turns into a race against time as a new enemy rises to stop her.
NOTE: This would be a nice break from sad stories. This story has been in my head since I first saw Daring Do, and I'm excited to write it!
Shade to Stride (WIP Title. Really, I have no clue what to call this right now, so I thought of something random):
Intended to be an on-going story.
While on patrol in the dark woods of Hollow Shades, a guard discovers a tiny griffon hatchling darting between the shade of surrounding trees. They pursue it and, after a small chase, they catch it. It's discovered this little griffon isn't a griffon at all, not really at least. It's front was that of an eagle, but it's back was that of a pony.
Unsure of this strange child, the guards take him to the one pony who may know what he was: Princess Celestia.
NOTE: This one is one of my newest ideas, but I really love the lore I've built in my head about it. I have a project I'm working on, an interactive story that is just massive! This serves as an origins story for that project.
The above stories are all works-in-progress, and the descriptions were made on the spot. The titles are not final, and the descriptions given are definitely not what I'd use to describe the finished stories! I'd like to start on one of the on-going stories and write one of the one-shots somewhere during that. I don't plan on releasing anything until I have a good majority of the story finished.
Based on my horrible descriptions, please, tell me what you all would like to see! :)
Shade to stride sounds interesting
