A few days ago, I put up the first chapter of 'Worlds Beyond', my new My Little Pony fanfic, which I intend to be an epic journey across the stars, testing the ponies' principles and convictions against a vast, often hostile galaxy. While I was at it, I put up the first My Little Pony fanfic I'd written: a joke of a thing, less than 2,000 words, called 'Special Friends', which I wrote last year, showed to a few friends, then let rot on my hard drive. It was purely a case of 'why not?'
At this moment, 'Worlds Beyond' has seven comments, all of them generic 'looking forward to seeing more' messages. 'Special Friends' also has seven comments (not counting my own and a few blank comments someone left by mistake), but those comments include a detailed critique of the story, various innuendo, and a number of requests for more. Which surprises me, considering that the story (spoiler alert!) is a silly joke, half of it getting the reader to expect a descent into clopfiction, the other half suggesting what a kinky relationship would even look like in a G-rated world.
I suppose I underestimated the hunger of shippers.
At the moment, my muse is focused on the next chapter of 'Worlds Beyond', and I have a half-dozen other irons ready to go into the fire should I so wish: bonus chapters for 'The Monster Mash, a rewrite/continuation of 'The Pantheon of Harmony', a similar rewrite/continuation of 'To Serve' (a Conversion Bureau story, though the focus is less on that setting and more on an artificial intelligence being ponified), and a number of other, sillier ideas, like a look at what a video game for ponies would actually look like (as opposed to the typical 'ponies and video games' story that just slaps some ponies into Battlefield 3 or something). Further, I don't feel qualified to actually write a romantic fanfic, having been in exactly zero romantic relationships in my life and having no interest in changing that any time soon.
I don't suppose that will stop anyone from asking, though.
In hopes that I can at least contribute something to those hungry for more: do any of you know of a story where the Mane Six get together, romantically, as a unit? If so, where can it be found, and do you think it's worth reading?
I'll just leave my (by now annoying) request for the rewrite of The Pantheon of Harmony here if you don't mind.
Dude, Worlds Beyond is a far more intriguing and worth while story. Anyone can write a shipping story, but stories such as Worlds Beyond are truly worth the readers time. The reason why you've gotten generic comments such as "looking forward to the next chapter" is probably because you've written it so well that that's all people could think of. In short, I'm glad you're focusing on Worlds Beyond at the moment.
