Video game movies: awesome. · 5:11am Jan 24th, 2013
Not movies based off video games, or "interactive movie" games, but more like games with a buttload of cutscenes. And the viewing of them separated from the playing bits.
Two "video game movies" I recently watched: Lollipop Chainsaw and Mortal Kombat 9. Mortal Kombat is an exceptional one because, if it had fight scenes, you could release it in theaters as an actual movie.
...
Now I need to play the game.
Would Heavy Rain fall under that category?
747398 If it could, people would have to play multiple times to get all the endings and other shit like that.
Catherine would make a good movie.
747398 are there a million cutscenes separated by only a smidgen of gameplay? Because if not, no.
748307 I agree.

More like the game is one big movie/ QTE.
748580 Mirrors edge was meh as a game, but what if it became a movie with a better plot?
748632 748599 Not the point. A video game movie in the sense that I speak of has a billion cutscenes that you can string together to get a coherent storyline. you take out ALL the playable bits and just use the cutscenes. There will be a few gaps, sure, but that is what I mean.
Mortal combat 9 is a wonderful example because the story is in the cutscenes. The fighting does not contain the story.
749204 What about metal gear solid 4? Never played it but heard there were so many cutscenes.
749214 okay. What I'm worried about are those pesky missions.
749217 How? And why can't we talk on Skype?
749223 nvm, and YouTube catch-up time. I had a lot of homework.
