Cliche · 5:48am Jan 21st, 2013
So I just wrote a story that runs very heavily upon two cliches, and I don't think that's an awful thing. The two cliches are these: Rainbow Dash gets in an accident, and Scootasad. There's a reason why these are cliches, its because these ideas work fairly well with the characters. Now the trick is to pull a meaningful experience from the whole story. Essentially, it's to break free from the cliche and reach the goal that you intended to from the beginning.
Basically I wrote 'To Seek the Sky' as an attempt to get into the mindset of Scootaloo, mainly so I understand her character a bit better when I use her in the continuation of Scion of Chaos. And I think I tapped into at least one small aspect of her character with this story.
(As of writing this, the story is still being 'processed', they must have a big queue of fics to go through, though I appreciate all the effort the moderators and admins of this site go through)
Now to get a good idea for another one-shot for two weeks from now...
Edit: Wow, I derped. It turns out it didn't submit the first time (maybe a faulty internet connection on my part, oops). Anyway now it should really be on it's way.

cool stuff.
Can't wait for the sequel! :D
First comment cutie mark(Erm, stud stamp... I'm a guy.) crusaders! yay!
Sweet.
I BROKE THE LAWS OF FIMFICTION!!!
Yay!
Anyways, when a good author writes a good story, I don't give a damn if it's a cliche or not. Can't wait!
Hmmm, sounds interesting. I look forward to seeing how this will play out. It is so much easier to find fault when it is easy to make mistakes, but so much more rewarding when it comes to fruition. Best of luck.
