I have to admit it, I honestly don't care much for any of the newer episodes until the finale. I keep re-watching the season 3 premiere because of the many potential hints with what is going to happen in the future.
I've been hearing from a lot of the fans about how Twilight might eventually become an alicorn. I'm personally a little iffy about the whole ordeal. Alicorn!Twilight is something I found to be enjoyable reading in fanfiction mostly because I love learning more about what it would be like to be a princess. But I have to admit, I might be a little disappointed if it happens in canon.
An issue I've been having over the more recent episodes is that Twilight is now being portrayed as superior towards her friends. She's become a part of royalty, and the most part has a very privileged life. I know she's had problems throughout the series, but she is lucky enough to get such an advanced education that her parents could afford, and has been incredibly skilled since being a filly. The other characters seemed to have a closer life to what we as humans have. As of season 3, Twilight is learning magic quicker and no longer seems to be incompetent in areas besides studying, magic, and organization.
What I really enjoyed about Winter Wrap Up is that it's proven Twilight is so strong in one area, it weakens her in others. But now she somehow seems to have so much more talent, even though she's studying much more intensely. With the whole Royal Family, much more competence in other areas, and potentially becoming a princess, she's becoming a Mary Sue in my eyes.
I prefer the idea of the mane six having strengths respectively and being portrayed as equals to one another, and I hope that the series will choose to go that route.
I developed an idea what the next level of studies could. Princess Celestia possibly sees potential for Twilight to become a princess, but Twilight herself is unaware of this. Maybe Celestia is losing zest for life and needs to step from the throne, and have Twilight take place in the role with Luna.
