Hit the publish button - because why not? · 5:00am Jan 14th, 2013
Normally, my writing is fairly sparse, description-wise. Most of what I've published here trends shorter. I've been making a conscious effort to push in the other direction, especially trying to make my STILL not published pet-project a little meatier, but I wonder if my normal style has gotten any better.
So I'm about to hit publish on a wispy little thing (under 2k words!) that fell out in my more "natural" writing voice. Which, honestly, I haven't used in a good while now. Experimental this, straining for improvement that, 4chan... It's a voice I moved away from because I don't think it's as good as some of the other things I can do. I guess maybe it's something about how all the imagery is in my head already, so I end up skipping over a lot of it with my words, not realizing the reader doesn't live up here and can't see what I see if I don't show them. Still, it's an exercise. I slapped it together real quick today, then didn't bother editing/polishing/fleshing out any of it.
Even with my newfound ability to appreciate my own work (at least a little), I don't see much good here. Too stringy. Not filling enough.
I also spent some time today working on a new CMC comedy oneshot, though, so maybe there'll be that soon. It's little more than an outline right now, but I'm smiling at a few of the lines, so I think that if/when I finish it it'll be reasonably enjoyable.
Sounds good, bro.
