Setting and Main Characters on Steampunk Ponies

Yes, I know that I said I would finish my current story, and I will. I just wanted to give you an idea of the Characters of my next fic.

Setting- Currently unknown if I want it in Ponyville (so normal) or AAAAAAAAPPPAALOOSA! (leaning more towards this because of the ability to expand what an Alternate Universe Appleloosa would be. Plus since I based a heavy idea of this off Wild Wild West. (the movie, not the original series which is almost impossible to find on youtube, damn not having Netflix and being a poor college student. But I digress.)

Next, the ruling class. I feel that Celestia and Discord hooked up and are currently Princess and Royal Consort respectively. Unlike the main series Discord is the Spirit of Disharmony but is more passive at tricks, uses sarcasm, and focuses on what Celestia secretly calls "technojunk." Celestia focuses on the beauty of Creation and nature. Discord would be more of the Prince of Inventors and, as such, holds a special place in his heart towards invention. No idea if I should make them have a family of their own, sounds cool to me. Luna is still angry at Celestia for marrying Discord (she did turn into NightMare Moon, but it wore off in a week or two. Just needed a good talking to and Luna was in heat therefore she wasn't completely in control of her feelings.) Luna's lineage stretches to much of Canterlot's elite. (Mainverse I believe was Celestia) Still tensions are strained between the Princesses. Cadance and Shining Armor are still normal in terms of behavior, but the Crystal Empire is much more advanced since Discord personally stopped King Sombra's rule and therefore there was no 1000 year loss of memory. They focused their knowledge into mechanical use and the Empire is the most lucrative friendly trader with Equestria of crystal engines (constructed with magic and steam power, put into almost everything since everything runs on steam.)

Mane 6: Fluttershy and Dash: Both know each other in their past exploits in Flight Camp. Since the Wonderbolts dream didn't pan out, in this reality the team was a relic of days past and Dash's eyes were always in the future, Dash is a captain of an airship. She is known around Equestria as Rainbowmane and is currently on the run from the law because of continued air piracy allegations. (nearly all of them true.) Cutie Mark is a airship with rainbow colored smoke trailing it. Fluttershy is an inventor focusing on myriad of inventions attempting to create artificial life using models of woodland critters. Her bunny Angel is one of the few ground creatures she has owned and seen outside of models, drawings, and her own thoughts. Cutie mark is three gears with wings.

Twilight: Student of Princess Celestia has perks. Studying magic, reading books, and learning a lot about politics intrigues the mare. Twilight in many situations is sheltered from castle life and will be more trusting of the seedy underbelly of this society. She also thinks that any country notions of civility are wrong and that Canterlot has the best of things. Nostalgia for the good life can and will hit her hard. Doesn't understand that Princess Celestia sent her on a mission to stop an evil inventor. Same frickin' cutie mark. Just changed where she is sent.

Pinkie Pie: The country presence on the team of ponies. (Yes, Applejack is not country. Think of that for a moment) Her mane is completely straight, but don't let that fool you she is the happiest one of this group. Her dialect is mainverse AJ with Pinkie Pie mannerisms, Pinkie Sense and Southern Charm. Is one of the strongest characters because of her working habits on the rock farm. Can be serious and has a black hat that was given to her as a gift for her gaining her cutie mark which is a pickax over a rock.

Applejack is the local general store and saloon owner. Her family sent her out there to provide an Apple presence in this outpost of a town. She enjoys serving ponies and is one of the most liked mares in Appleloosa. She frequently provides entertainment with a few other ponies as a Country band. (The Apple Cores) and is a party pony in the sense of a good relaxing time. (drunken brawl fights notwithstanding, but she breaks them with her Apple Strength.) Now if only Cousin Braeburn stopping letters about how wonderful Ponyville was. Her cutie mark is a mug of cider. (Yes, I gave AJ an alcoholic beverage for a cutie mark. Her name alone is an alcoholic beverage. I thought it was clever for 2am thoughts.)

Rarity- A waitress in the saloon. She creates her own dresses and sometimes provides shows in the saloon as herself in her creations. She wanted to be a known designer, but she was not born in the right place for such designs, she sees her work in the saloon as lucrative (getting a chunk of the profits) and found that she enjoyed the limelight. Her cutie mark is of a blue party dress.

Unknown if I should change the cutie marks of the characters. (Twilight stays the same, rest of Mane Six, major changes AU with no Sonic Rainboom plus different technology. Almost a nature vs. Nurture argument in a nutshell.)

Bad dude: currently unknown. Want it to be a background pony. (Lyra? AU version of Doctor Whooves? Both sound cool in their own way)
