i meant to write this up much earlier but i got caught up in the top 100 songs of 2012 stream.
so
this episode overall wasnt the best of the season, but it had a really nice morale and i think some of the funniest moments.
first of all, the return of the timbrewolves was awesome. it was nice to learn more about them.
that use of 3d animation was really nice. i love the use of alternative animation for opposition, it adds a nice.
also, another instance of someponies life being at stake.
one problem i had was how spike was so clumsy. i can understand though that twilights work is dramatically different than applejacks work.
though i think that he could have been a good assistant and it would still have carried the morale perfectly well, really i think it wouldve worked better that way.
honestly, that would have turned around into an amazing episode. fortunately, this episode had some good moments to carry it.
applejack kicking some serious flank was a really great start. really all the ponies had some great moments, except for flutters who wasnt very present.
we get several cute moments with spike, hugging somepony or messing up cutely. and seeing that he can use his fire for magical storage.
then there is him telling twi that hes leaving, and her great reaction, or lack there of. this is one of my fave moments.
then we head over to rarities for a cluster of fun. rarities funny reaction and spikes cute but odd comment back, that she looked good chewing.
then we find out that rainbow writes bad self insert fanfic. which was another fave scene. then rarity staring cluelessly at the sink pipe.
rainbows bout with the rock tower. spike scratching applejacks back, so adorable. and spikes rockin solo, best song of the season.
and ofcourse, aj getting twilights attention with her super ocd, which is one of my fave scenes ever. this episode is really moment after moment without break.
we see pinkies genius plan, and mustache. and her question, another great one. rarities acting class. and rainbows interesting ability to roar.
rarity and pinkies wonderful acting, especially pinkies with her smile which was so funny.
finally the end, with the super timbrewolf and his choking on a stone, which was utterly hilarious.
i feel like i just wrote out the whole episode. maybe because i kinda did. seriously, this really was a great moment after another.
i think this is one of the funniest episodes so far and had many new fave moments of all. but alas, thats not enough to put it among the ranks of some others.
now, with a heavy heart, it is time for our short break of a few weeks before we get a new episode.
i would have been fine with this had it not been for them releasing the premise of the next episode and it sounding incredibly awesome.
i guess i should use the time to get started on some writing.

edit: as i rewatch and think on it. i love this episode much more than i originally posited. there were still some things that would have made it better, but it actually had some really nice writing. i think this is the funniest episode yet. and this really kept the flow with season threes winning streak.
