Will be stepping back into these space shoes very soon

Had some major delays, mostly related to life. I've determined that guitar is my instrument, so there goes fifteen to thirty minutes of my day right there. (As well as a good part of my money, as I have Guitar Acquisition Syndrome.)

    Stargazing (Pt. 1)

So tonight I felt like stargazing. Astronomy had always been something of an interest of mine, but I've just begun to be mature enough for actual backyard astronomy instead of sitting in a chair, staring at a screen and oohing and awing at how beautiful the universe is with color enhanced images from Hubble.

New Year, New Start · 9:54am Dec 27th, 2012

First, let me begin by thanking the kind(ish) people at Spacebattles.com. Unfortunately, around election time the site culture began to rub me the wrong way. I was beginning to have my doubts before that, of course. But after some events involving loved ones, as well as what happened to my grades this semester, I began to reevaluate my life. I realized that spending so much time on an internet forum, "talking" to pixels that I will never meet, when I have flesh and blood people that I care about right beside me, needing aid and companionship...

So, I know that SB'ers tune in sometimes, and the fact that I will still be post stuff here will seem anomalous. Well, I've abandoned that site. It's too much of a time sink, and since I am looking forward to 'fun' times aiding in family care, trying to complete my undergrad, manage my ADHD, DM a Pathfinder game, play Magic the Gathering, getting my right knee fixed and dealing with the constant pain from my lower jaw... yeah.

I'll still be writing pony fan fiction, however. But I'm changing my approach. For the next few months at least I'll be revisiting the idea of crossing over with Magic the Gathering. There is also my old idea of taking the cast and treating them as a Comedy of the Arts troupe, turning them into humans and using them as the party for an adventure in the Inner Sea region of Pathfinder's main setting. After all, one of the main appeals of MLP:FiM is the fact that the character's gimicks are not based around being ponies*. Either way, what I write will be full on pulpy serials since I want to have fun with something I'll never see any money off of. "Chapters" will not be less than 10,000 words by my current style standard, and "Episodes" will have no more than three acts.

Since I am upping my game, I'll need volunteers for proofreaders and editors. Folks who will go over my work, criticize it, fix the obvious grammar and spelling mistakes that programs will never find until the AI apocalypse, and send those stories back to me. I'm hoping to push out a chapter every month or two, which I personally think is a realistic goal. I want to move forward, but I don't want to rush it either. If you're interested in doing this for me, post up in the comments and I'll see what we can do.

Other then that, uneventful times by my standard. I may post up Magic the Gather or RPG based blog posts on occassion, since there seems to be a small level of interest.

*Sure, things like Twilight's magic and Rainbow Dash's flying may not translate well into a My Little Adventurers setting, but there are ways around it.

You had me at "crossover with Magic: the Gathering." I look forward to it, for reasons that are obvious if you've seen any of my stories.

Keep in mind that it would be Innistrad block forward, since Innistrad is when I started to do my 'serious' play. (Innistrad set was also when I got my first box, and your first box always hold a special place in your heart.)

So yeah, Innistrad & Return to Ravinca stories. Twilight learns to deal with undead horrors, Rainbow Dash learns how awesome SCIENCE! can be, Fluttershy learns how to become one with the world and Pinkie Pie throws a very special party.

653959 I am overwhelmingly okay with Living Saint Fluttershy, Twilight Geistbane, and Massacre Pony. Izzet Dash? Unexpected, but intriguing.

I would be willing to proofread anything you write. Extremely willing.:pinkiehappy:

So far the idea solidly is that Twilight's in Innistrad dealing with the whole "vampires, werewolves, ghosts and undead running amok while trying to intercept a TT-animated series Star Fire-esqe Moon Mage", while RD lands in just the right place in accordance to the plans of the draco-genius Niv-Mizzet and is given enough of a display of THE AWESOME POWER OF SCIENCE! by another visitor* to Ravnica before partaking in one of the many experimental public works projects that the Izzet League is known for.

Everything else depends on what the block after Return to Ravnica is about, although exploring the consequences of Princess Celestia being gestating in a Phyrexian Birthing Pod and trying to contain the corruption that Chrysalis has spread is also a possibility. (Changlings without their queen as Equestrian goblins analogues? Needs more thought.)

So yeah. I'm outlining the first story, Twilight Sparkle and the Horrors of Hollowhedge right now.

*Trixie is best Izzet unicorn. Being the only Izzet unicorn helps. At least until I change my mind about what happens in that part of the story.

I'll hold you to it.
