Thoughts on Every Little Thing She Does · 4:09am February 8th
This episode is one of the more interesting episodes in season six. Weird enough, Starlight Glimmer wasn't in this season all that often despite her being the former antagonist staying in Ponyville. It's odd that we don't see her progress through friendship lessons like Twilight did in Season One. This would've helped, in my opinion, with her character development, but besides that, this episode is basically Starlight's version of Lesson Zero, where she tries using a spell to help her achieve a goal, but it gets out of control rather quickly. The premise is that Starlight is trying to do something with each of the mane six minus Twilight, who left on a trip to Canterlot, but she can't seem to do everything they want. So she preps a spell and brainwashes them to do one thing at a time, but they follow everything she says too literally, which causes chaos. Twilight then comes back and has to force Starlight to fix everything and have Starlight apologize for everything.
This episode is one where Starlight stumbles on being a friend, but it was obviously overly aggressive with her magic, literally brainwashing Twilight's friends and forcing them to be her slaves, basically. It was definitely one that makes me think that Starlight still has a bad habit of trying to force ponies to do what she says, like how she acted when she was first introduced. It makes me think this could be a force of habit without her realizing how bad it was to cast that spell. It was a wake-up call for her to be more aware of her actions and more "loose," as she felt like this was a massive test she had to pass, not just a way to hang out and enjoy her time with her friends. I enjoyed the episode as it felt like it was needed to see Starlight learning more about herself and how to interact with others, and she's going at her own pace and learning by failing, which honestly was needed earlier in the season, in my opinion.
