    My First Convention

I'd been meaning to put this up earlier, but well, better late than never.

Tomorrow and through Sunday, I'll be out of town - my dad and I are going to a convention over in Beckley. Dad's going to be vending a table there to try and sell some books.

    Thoughts on Harakiri (1962)

Wow. This was a masterclass in buildup and tension. I knew about Masaki Kobayashi's movie before - a scathing indictment of the samurai and the honor code that they profess to live by - but all the same, watching the movie had me hooked from start to finish. :scootangel:

Finally getting around to writing up my thoughts on this one. I had heard plenty of good things about it from my parents, though I had yet to see it. Finally, we rung in the new year by watching "Galaxy Quest" with dinner.

I watched Godzilla x Kong yesterday

    And all in all?

It was fun. Good mindless monster mash of a film. Funny how much some of the stuff with Kong in the movie made me think, just a little, of Primal. If only for the lack of dialogue and the importance of character through action and expression.

Fanfic Rec: Scooby-Doo AD 1972 · 6:16pm January 29th

Hello all. I wanted to do a little promotion of a crossover story with a wild premise, but a great execution.

"Scooby-Doo AD 1972". A retelling of (and fix-it for) the Hammer Horror movie "Dracula AD 1972" with Mystery Incorporated along for the ride. It should be ludicrous - particularly if you know the original movie at all! - and yet it really does manage to work! :pinkiehappy:

Here's the summary/description below:

While visiting the swinging London scene, Daphne bumps into family friend, Jessica van Helsing. When Jessica's friend, Laura, goes missing after a night of quiet mind-blowing, Mystery Inc is on the case. But are there more things in heaven and earth than they can unmask?

If you're at all a fan of the lovable Great Dane and company, or if you like a good Dracula story, do yourselves a favor and check this out. I think it'd be to your liking.
