My Full Slate Of December Stories Revealed! · 11:15pm Dec 1st, 2023
We’re finally into December, everypony, the last month of 2023! Obviously, I’ll be working my flank off in order to get the final word in the battle for opinions when it comes to G5 out once school ends, but I also can’t forget my duties here as an author. So I’m proud to reveal all the stories I have planned for this month. We currently have a blended mix of both Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 stories, with most of them being either one-shots or two-chapters. However, there is one long-form narrative fic that will carry into January that I will be starting in the midst of all this. Without further ado, let’s see ‘em!
✅ 1. I’m Not A Princess! - December 3, 2023
Sunny wants to get to know Spike better after their battle with Opaline, so she takes a trip to the Isle of Scaley for a simple conversation between friends. Unfortunately, Spike seems incapable of grasping this one simple fact about her….
This first fic is a quick one-shot Comedy/Random story that I decided to write yesterday night while taking a break from studying because I was feeling quite like the funny guy for some reason. After watching that little exchange in Chapter 6 where Spike calls Sunny a princess as he’s heading out to stop Opaline, I knew that this was some juicy material that I had to expand upon. Imagine what would happen if we had an episode where Spike wanted to settle that score with Sunny and finally convince her to fulfill her destiny as an alicorn. What will happen? Find out in a few days!
✅ 2. I Feel Sorry For You - December 17, 2023
“I actually feel sorry for you.”
What if those words actually meant something to Opaline? What if the love of a daughter was able to break through her mother’s icy cold heart? With all of Equestria on the line, Misty is forced to confront Opaline in Zephyr Heights, and reveal the truth of her allegiances with the ponies. But one key sentence might be the difference between condemnation and redemption….
The Misty stories are back in full swing because I just can’t get enough of writing for her. This is exactly what it sounds like: an Opaline reformation fic. When I watched that exchange between Opaline and Misty near the Zephyr Heights Together Tree, I knew there was potential for an alternate ending scenario, where Misty was actually able to break through the Fire Alicorn’s defenses for but the briefest of moments. Obviously, I can’t spoil what exactly the conversation will entail, but know that you’re in for quite the feels trip for this one-shot. Stay tuned for this Wednesday to see how everything pans out!
✅ 3. A Second Chance - December 21, 2023
Takes place in the IDW comics continuity, immediately after the Discord arc. If you have not read Issues 1-10 already, then please do so or this story will not make sense.
Discord has been reformed once again. Following his attempt to destroy all magic, he has done much to learn about the new world he inhabits and come to terms with his actions. Though he is accepted by pony society, he still prefers a life of isolation as it was the only life he ever knew for centuries. Yet that solitary life is about to be uprooted when none other than Izzy Moonbow, the very pony who had mercy on him in the first place, comes knocking at his door and invites him to have holiday dinner with her friends in Maretime Bay.
Suddenly, Discord is thrown back to the days when he had friendship, the days when he had love…the days when he had Fluttershy. He doesn’t feel like he is ready to be given a second chance yet, but Izzy will not give up on him….
Now this story is a special case for me. Not only are we starting to delve into holiday fic territory, but this also marks the first time that I’m making a sequel to an IDW comics arc. I previously mentioned in my defense video of the Discord comic that I wanted a sequel where Izzy and Discord’s bond was explored further. Well, since the writers didn’t seem interested, I took it upon myself to do their job for them! As this takes place in the comics universe, anything in Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale is NOT CANON!! Therefore, I’m free to reintroduce Hearth’s Warming Eve back into the equation and have that be the pony holiday that is reintroduced post-movie. The story will deal with themes of love, loss, and the ability to overcome grief. I cannot wait to write this and I’m sure you will all love it too.
4. Then One Foggy Winter Wishday… - December 24, 2023
The holiday season is here once again. While everypony in Maretime Bay is excited to celebrate with their loved ones, Misty doesn’t feel comfortable doing so as she doesn’t know a single thing about what it is, let alone how to spend it. Wanting to get her in the spirit, Sunny organizes an all-night trip in the Marestream across Equestria. Together, the Mane 5 vow to show Misty the true meaning of Winter Wishday….
It’s another holiday story! And my first one where the premise is all about that. Now this one is quite interesting. It will take loose inspiration from “A Christmas Carol,” just without the Scrooge character as Misty isn’t like that. Judging by her upbringing, Misty would be more cynical than spiteful of the holidays as she’s never had a single good moment in her life before meeting the ponies. So I thought…what if I made a story where her friends showed her what being in the spirit was all about? It’s looking to be a two to four chapter fic at the moment, and I’m quite excited to write it as making a dedicated holiday story is fresh new ground for me. Chronologically, this story would take place after Chapter 6. If you think that two-four chapters is too short, buckle up because this next story is what you’ve all been waiting for.
5. A Day Out With Dad - December 26, 2023
After reuniting with her long-lost father Alphabittle after so many years, Misty decides that she wants to make up for as much lost time as possible. In order to pull this off, she enlists the help of her friend Zipp Storm to devise a series of mysteries for them to complete throughout the day, all culminating in one grand reward. The only problem? Her friends can’t seem to agree on what sort of activities the duo should participate in, let alone the prize. With only 24 hours on the clock, will Zipp and the gang get their act together and pull off the best day ever? Or is a precious day with family destined to be ruined by pointless squabbles?
Also why did Opaline get her face stuck in the toilet and can she get out? Eh, that’s probably irrelevant anyway….
It’s a Misty and Alphabittle story! For this two-chapter story, we’re taking a trip back through time to when Chapter 5 came out and Dadabittle was all the rage. I haven’t really seen a dedicated father-daughter fic for these two yet, so this will be quite the unique experience for you readers. This story takes a lighter tone than the previous one, but will still deal with some heavy stuff during certain sections. I got inspired by “Family Trees Pt 2” and “Father of the Bridlewood” to make this story and I want it to actually feel like a genuine Make Your Mark episode in terms of its tone and characterization. I’m quite excited to work on this one, and I apologize for the wide gap in releases between the last story and this one. The last thing I want is reader fatigue and oversaturation, so I’m spacing these next few ones out. Plus, it’ll also give me time for other stuff like my channel. Stay tuned to see the first proper Alphabittle and Misty fic come to life!
6. The Family We Lost - December 29, 2023
Misty has been kidnapped! While heading home one night from one of her regular visits to Bridlewood, she is ambushed and taken aboard an airship filled with pirates out for blood. Intending to sell her into sexual slavery in order to pay off a debt, the pirates chain and lock Misty below deck in the brigs, with her only comfort being a culinary chef who regularly sneaks her food. As the days pass, Misty must learn to adapt and survive if she has any hope of getting back home to her friends.
Alphabittle is devastated. Upon learning of his daughter’s abduction, he fears that he will never see her again after just being reunited with her. Following a period of not sleeping and shutting everypony out of his life, including his true love, Alphabittle resolves to save his daughter from a fate worse than death. In a desperate bid to save Misty’s life, he enlists the help of the only other pony who knows her: Opaline Arcana. Upon making an unholy pact with the evil alicorn, the two set off on a journey across Equestria to save the young unicorn they both called their own.
Opaline doesn’t know what to think. On one hoof, she has always touted herself as not caring for the unicorn she abused and enslaved for the better half of a decade, but when a mysterious stranger appears at her castle doorstep claiming to be Misty’s father, she suddenly finds herself in a position of concern. Did she really care for Misty the whole time and was just denying it, or did her feelings come from a sense of curiosity? Whatever the case, it was a deal that she just couldn’t pass up. Now she and the stallion set out on a personal journey to rescue Misty, where Opaline begins to realize just what she might’ve lost if they fail to succeed….
This summary…might’ve caught you off guard and if it did, I don’t blame you. This is going to be a VERY heavy story that I’ve had in the plans since Chapter 5 came out. It’s both an Opaline reformation fic and a Misty story, with an overarching plot about family drama mixed in there. I’ve always imagined this scenario as to what might happen if Opaline and Alphabittle were forced to band together and go on a quest in order to save Misty, and how that might change the way Opaline thinks. The reason for this was that I’ve always believed that a part of her really does care for Misty, and that she just doesn’t want to admit it. So this will be the Chapter 5 story where she will be forced to confront those feelings and decide what kind of pony she really wants to be. This is also the long-form narrative story that I alluded to earlier, and it will carry us into January and possibly early February as well. Will these two polar opposite parents learn to get along and trust each other in order to save the life of their daughter before it is too late? Only time will tell.
