Sponia reaches the space · 11:04am Oct 8th, 2023
You heard correctly: On the morning of Saturday, October 7th, the Sponish rocket Miura I successfully reached space. It seems that, eventually, the Martians will eat paella and drink gazpacho. 😋

"Sponia"?
You should link to Miura 1 instead of Kentaro Miura.

That was intentional XD. I read comments from some people who found it funny that the name of the rocket was the same as the deceased artist, as if it was a homage, and I wanted to join in on the joke. But now that I think about it, there may be people who think there is a real relation between them. I better change it. 😬

Oh, I guess it would have been funny if I'd ever heard about Miura 1. The word "Sponia" made me think maybe this was something from a work of fiction, and clicking thru to Kentaro Miura made that seem more likely.
If you're thinking, "Surely Americans have heard of our spaceship launch," you don't know how totally self-absorbed American news is. The entire past week, American news has covered Gaza and the attempt to elect a new Speaker of the House, and literally nothing but that, 24 hours a day. The week before was all about Trump's indictment. Genocide in Azerbaijan and Sudan? Nobody in the American news cares about that. Probably not 1 American in a thousand even knows about it. Al Jazeera is a better news agency than any in America.

He he, that's just my pony name for Spain, like Spain / Sponia, Spanish / Sponish, Spaniard / Sponiard, Hispanic / Hisponic, etc. XD

Oh, damn😕. I think I can relate to. Here in Spain the news dedicates some time to France, Gaza, Ukraine, United States and Spanish America, but most of the time they do nothing more than show us the leaders of the PP, PSOE, Sumar and Vox (our four most relevant parties) spit on each other with polite cockiness, or some random murder or fight or embarrassing event on the peninsula (uncomfortable fact: on the day of the rocket launch, the Spanish press dedicated much more time to the case of the non-consensual kiss from the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation to the footballer Jenni Hermoso than to the launch itself). India, Afghanistan, Sudan, the rest of Near East, the Sahel, Burma, CHINA? Except for very specific moments, as if they did not exist.
