Howdy folks, long time no update · 4:10pm Sep 29th, 2023
Hello again everyone!
Its been a long while hasn't it? Well, I'll give you the short of things.
Been working my new job, and running a neat lil D&D campaign for some friends. I've been trying to get a bit more actual discipline in my life so I'm not wasting away hours of my life pointlessly binging youtube videos on content that isn't anything more than distraction.
Youtube, the flashy tempting timesink of useless information and (hollow) entertainment.
My efforts have started to work, and I'm finding myself with more time for my actual hobbies and no longer wasting time feeding the insatiable distraction demons of the youtube algorithm.
My formerly booked solid workweek days are now where I'm finding time to actually write again, and I'm forging ahead again, slowly but steadily.
I've gone from stagnating and making zero progress in months to actually being a step closer to finishing a chapter.
I might actually finish the chapter I've been "working on" for roughly a year now. I put working on in quotations because, lets be honest, I haven't been giving it much work. I blame myself for being easily distracted and letting myself remain undisciplined. in my life.
motivation is fleeting and unreliable, so I'm doing away with that and relying on the consistency of discipline.
I *want* to write this fic, but if I only do it when I'm motivated then its never going to get done.
Bugfic's latest chapter went from stagnating at 6k for months, to not jumping up to being 8k words. at about 9.5k to 10k it will be finished and ready for upload.
I'm grateful to those of you still willing to read it given how atrocious my upload rate has been, but I'm putting forth the work in my life to be more productive in everything I do.
its been baby steps, but its been working.
eventually I would like to say that I'll have a somewhat consistent upload schedule once I hammer this all out and cement these positive changes I've been committing to.
work is hard, but worth it. I'm in a lot better shape these days and I genuinely have been feeling a lot better a lot more frequently.
This has translated to me actually picking up my hobbies again and applying myself outside my fickle moments of motivation.
I'm treating this fic like a responsibility of mine, a responsibility to you, my readers.
So far its been working, and I'm getting there.
before we know it, I'll be going in strides and churning out chapters like I used to.
No more false promises, honest effort and some damn discipline this time.
A changeling CAN change, as it turns out.
I'll see you all again when bugfic's ready to release its next chapter.
oh, and on that note, before I go, I've gotten back into writing my FoE fic, so those who are interested will see that cropping up again after every odd bugfic chapter!
