Apparently Slasherpunk isn't a thing.... · 5:19am Aug 8th, 2023
So, for some reason my brain confused Splatterpunk (which I'm not sure really counts as a punk genre as it's essentially just about creating really gorey slasher movies) for Slasherpunk... Which sadly isn't real. 
However, I do have ideas about how it could be real and used for a story. 
Imagine a world where the rich and the elite will have special events where they kidnap unsuspecting victims and put them in strange situations where the elite or an avatar of theirs can take on the persona of a horror movie slasher and kill off the kidnapped victims.
Perhaps it's all a simulation or maybe they have the means to revive the dead victims, so that they can restart the hunt with a new elite taking on the role of the killer and in the process the victims' memories are wiped.
Just a weird idea that's been bouncing around in my skull and I figured that this was a good place to share it. 
The concept sounds both familiar and interesting. Kind of a cross between Saw and The Running Man.
If you developed it enough, it could be sold as a spec script to a Hollywood studio.
So, Dead By Daylight but with VR?
That description reminds me of The Purge.
Does that qualify?
5741279 Admittedly I'm not too up to date on DBD lore, so I can't say with utmost certainty.
5741304 ...Kind of. It doesn't quite what I think of as slasherpunk, as I picture it being a world where the serial killer slasher has major influence on society or aspects of it, but in a way the Purge does follow it to a small extent.
5741232 I don't think Hollywood and I would get along.
But maybe I'll try to write a story on it.
No, I mean the rich people in this are basically just playing Dead By Daylight with the survivors being there unwillingly.
