TFBTS Update #2 and a little bit of rebranding · 2:50am Jul 27th, 2023
First things first, I've updated my profile display name and profile pic. My old username – though cute and reminiscent of my past self – wasn't really representative of who I am in the fandom so I wanted to update it. I've also updated my profile pic because stallion Golden was once A Thing and now is no longer A Thing. Hasn't been a thing in YEARS lol. Almost 8 years now actually... but seeing them in their old design brought back some nostalgia so there's that.
On the fic side, three years ago I posted the first update blog post about life getting in the way and that I was trying to be more methodical with what I do. Well, now it's three years later, and I'm getting into the swing of life things I suppose. I don't want to be too hasty and say that there's going to be another chapter drop in a same time frame. What I can say though is that chapter 5 is in a revised state and chapter 6 is in progress. Chapter 6 has been in progress for quite some time, gathering dust because it turns out that I have a little bit of a fic problem...
How I used to do fic stuff is that I'd write a chapter, proofread it, then post it. I'd then start work on the next one and repeat the process. That's all well and good if you know where you are going, but I didn't even have much of a plan for Unleashing the Shadowbornes. I just wrote what I felt made sense and turns out that probably didn't work so well. Now I'm brushing into kind of the same issue with my current in progress fic. I have stuff for chapters 5 and 6, but I really need to take a step back and think about the bigger picture for a change. The... timeline is long. That's what you get when you've got a RP universe you've been rolling with for the better part of ten years. I know where I'm at in the fic timeline-wise. I just need to mainly map out what major events happen in the fic. Probably... all of them but we'll see. Once I've got that down, I can probably plot out the in-between sections and string the plot along I suppose?
To hopefully resolve this "where in the heck am I going" issue, I'll probably segment the fic into arcs. Each arc could be centered around one or more major events. Within the arc are chapters, and within the chapters there are scenes. Currently, things feel weird because it still feels like I'm setting up things. I mean I probably am. I don't know. Most of the major characters have already been introduced. It's just... timeline stuff again I guess lol.
Anyway this post is far too long and far too ramble-y. Ideally, I'll post these monthly if I have any notable progress to share. If not, then I simply won't post things.
