Birth Control · 10:44am Jul 8th, 2023
Saw it on the internet.
Some woman was "Any woman can get birth control. ".
Well, NO they can't necessarily get birth control. It's LEGAL in all states (for now)
BUT
You need a prescription. 12 states allow doctors to refuse to provide it.
6 states allow pharmacists to refuse to sell it. You want to buy a gun, THAT they must sell you, but birth control they don't.
Youve got to pay for it
Obamacare (the ACA) covers it (until the GOP kills it) but a LOT of people can't get that. Some states allow employers to refuse to provide health care that covers it.
Texas doesn't allow those under 18 to have birth control without parental consent. (This violates federal law.) IMO, this SCOTUS will back that law and other states will follow.
So, NO you can't necessarily get birth control.
I remember the stories my mother told me from back in the 60’s when abortion was still illegal in Britain. If some states want women dying from infection caused by botched backstreet abortions, then they can go right ahead. But desperate people will find a way to do it. Even if it’s just gin and a hot bath. No one should have to die from infection caused by a coat hanger soaked in hot water and Fairy liquid just to appease closed minded religious zealots.

IMO, I can see "Abortion is murder".
The majority of reasons for an abortion come down to "I don't want this baby at this time".
Better birth control would prevent these pregnancies. So, IMO, you want to reduce abortions make good birth control more widely available.
