New Story Announcement: Private Pinkie (plus rambling) · 5:36pm Jun 19th, 2023

I'm pleased to announce a new story to be published on my page either tomorrow or the day after: Private Pinkie.

At around ~8500 words, it's a brisk story that follows what happened to Pinkie Pie in the New Lunar Millennium.

It follows how Pinkie's childish, slightly insane brain struggles to comprehend the endlessly complicated environment of the New Lunar Millenium, and her understanding of her place in it. I'm not sure how to describe it genre-wise honestly. I guess you could call it a character study? I It's my first story with a Mature rating too, as some of the descriptions get rather gruesome and I wanted to play it safe ratings-wise. While it is multi-chapter, it can be considered a one-shot due to the meagre length of the chapters.

When it releases, I hope you all enjoy it!

If anyone's still here I also wanted to take the time to go on a potentially unhinged ramble about my personal thoughts regarding writing.

The way I write is... weird. As it stands currently, I have several half-written multi-chapter stories that I could and probably should resume work on at some point, but the way my dumb brain works is that it has me infatuated with a certain story idea and I'm fixated on whatever that is for a week or so. This story has been in my mind for a while, but it was written over the course of ten days or so, which by my standards so far is actually sort of fast.

I'd like to write more efficiently, but I have a full time job taking up the majority of my waking hours and a whole load of other things I'd like to spend my free time on. It's a roll of the dice what I feel like doing with the limited time I have before and after work, and while I aim to get 1000 words or so written a day I'm extremely inconsistent with this goal. Writing at least has the benefit that it's something I can do at work, to an extent, as my job doesn't require much in the way of mental energy and gives me plenty of chances to take out something to scribble lines or notes onto unseen.

This has me in the position where I have a lot of ideas for things I want to write, but lack the time, organisation, and energy to put them to the page(/screen?) most of the time. I've thought of doing an announcement post where I give insight into my future plans, but knowing me I'd announce something while I'm deep into writing it only to get suddenly bored with the idea and write something completely different the second after posting the announcement.

Either way, I'm grateful for the positive reception that my stories have received in the short time I've been posting them. I was SUPER anxious about writing before I really got stuck into it at the start of this year, prompted by the success of a video project unrelated to MLP that I made late last year. While I mainly write for my own benefit, the kind comments are great to read.

To anyone still reading, thanks! It means the world to me.

I find this quote extremely relatable. Having mild ASD and ADHD can cause me to go from one half-finished story to the next, sometimes leaving things unfinished for years. Anyways, I love your stories, your artwork, and your incredible world-building ideas. I recently re-read your entire document and realized I share a birthday with Sol Nightshade, which I think is interesting. Anyways, you have no obligation to write anything under a strict schedule, and while I enjoy your work, the only person you really need to satisfy is yourself. I'll be reading this when it comes out, and I can't wait to see what happens.

P.S. Don't worry about writing mature stories. The universe you created is a pretty dark (pun not intended) place, with extremely complex characters and serious themes. Frankly, I think mature stories are the most effective at portraying these types of events. Sticking to general audience or teen ratings simply isn't enough sometimes.
