My Review of the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special · 6:55pm Dec 13th, 2022

Special Rating Scale:
: Awesome!
: Great!
: Pretty good.
: Meh.
: Overrated and boring.
: Terrible!
: Unnecessary.

Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with a very special review for today! (No pun intended) This afternoon, I will be reviewing the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special from 2020! This special is honestly one of the best Star Wars content I've ever watched; I mean, no one can deny the hilarious tone, the storyline, and the enjoyable characters it contains. It actually features characters from all three trilogies of the franchise, and it does a wonderful take on its characters while it also makes humorous jabs at the franchise's flaws to some degree.

This is about Rey training Finn how to be a Jedi. After a few hiccups, she feels as though she is not properly training him the right way as did the past Jedi Masters. After discovering an artifact that travels through time, she attempts to learn from ancient Jedi Masters how to be a great teacher. However, disastrous problems arise on the surface that threatens to doom the entire galaxy.

Amazingly, this special made Rey a more relatable character than the entire sequel trilogy. This LEGO version of her actually has flaws and seeks to learn from her mistakes. That is what a character is supposed to have--flaws--that make them more human, something that makes them interesting, not boring. Seeing Finn under Jedi training was also awesome to see, considering how wasted he was in the sequels. Helen Sadler and Omar Benson Miller's vocal performances made their respective characters both likable and fun to watch. Props to them!

Of course, it was nice seeing Star Wars characters have some peaceful celebration under the theme of Christmas--or a Christmas-like holiday. It makes you wonder what other holidays they have besides this one, you know?

The time travel sequences were very amusing to see. Seeing Rey jump from the prequel timeline to the Clone Wars and then to the original trilogy timeline was very epic and hilarious at the same time. This is basically Spider-Man: No Way Home before it was even a thing.

It was refreshing to hear James Arnold Taylor, Matt Lanter, Tom Kane, and Dee Bradley Baker voicing their iconic characters we all know and love. Trevor Devall is amusingly outstanding as Emperor Palpatine; the guy comes across as a lot more narcissistic, power-hungry, and spoiled. He would also perfectly fit in a Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network animated series, I'll tell you that! Oh, and Matt Sloan is honestly so good at giving his unique take on a less-than-serious Darth Vader. It makes me want to be his friend.

It taught a valuable lesson about realizing that genuine friendship will empower the relationship between master and student. The more they exercise trust and patience, the more they draw close to each other.

Overall, this is a well-animated, well-written, and well-performed holiday special that will appeal to every Star Wars fan out there. With that said, I will stamp this with a : Awesome!

Ho, ho, ho! Peace out!

Who knew the LEGO versions of the sequel triology characters would become much more developed than their original live-action counterparts.

Glad you liked it.
