My Return to FIMfic and the future of "Call of Titans" · 1:07am Nov 30th, 2022
Howdy, Folks! So I know my return to this accursed website was rather spur of the moment, but in my eagerness and haste to start working on The Bridge: Call of Titans after beginning to re-read The Bridge, it slipped my mind to even consider posting about my return! Well, I guess here it is! So yes, I'm back for a while, or at least until my motivation evaporates and the story dies just like the rest, but let's hope that doesn't happen, shall we?
Now on the topic of "Call of Titans", I wanted to say thank you all for being so receptive to the story and reacting to it so well. As of now, it has a perfect like ratio with no dislikes! And the comments that are being posted have all been very wonderful to read. I wanted to address a couple of things regarding the story as well, particularly the canonicity of said story, alongside character roles and how it ends...
First, on the topic of canonicity and how it falls in line with The Bridge; it is not canon by any degree, and falls in line with the events of chapters 37-45 as far as events go. I realized quickly that to have such a character like the Monsterverse Godzilla appear in Equestria in The Bridge would screw with so many events, just because of his role to the Earth Defenders faction. It's no small event for the oldest kaiju known to man to show up, and as a result of that, the story will try to follow closely with Tarbtano's Amalgam'verse, but inevitably will break off to allow for more storytelling that doesn't have to be retconned or clarified later on. But the most important thing to note is that this takes place after Xenilla's redemption and King Ghidorah's death.
Secondly, character roles and the overarching story; I feel like shipping should tie into this topic as well, and be warned, this will contain spoilers for what I have planned. But long-time followers especially may begin to draw parallels to an older story I worked on in the past, which I later made the decision to take down from my page alongside numerous other fics. The Bridge: Ancient was a spinoff that more or less had the same overarching plot as Call of Titans; Monsterverse Godzilla in Equestria. But his role previously and his personality were far different compared to now. In "Ancient" he was, I want to say, kinder than this variation. This Gojira is a weathered veteran who has grown bitter and resentful of his cohorts for reasons that I'll clarify later, and his arc in Call of Titans is learning to acclimate to this new world and let go of his bitterness. In "Ancient", he had an incomplete and incoherent arc that was spurred on by Fluttershy and her kindness towards him, which led to his self-acceptance as to who he was. Here, Fluttershy plays no role in his arc, and the ship between the two will not happen by any degree. He's 250 million years old and the handsomeness he possessed previously isn't there. He's a scarred, tired, bearded stallion who (though muscular) is more terrifying than he is handsome. He's meant to be hard to love here. The other kaiju, on that note, will play a rather large role in helping to redeem Gojira for his anger, and at the end of the story I plan on having Gojira watching Luna and Godzilla Junior dancing to "Soldier, Poet, King" during an autumn festival with a soft smile on his face.
