This episode is the conclusion to the encompassing subplot of the entire season. I think this episode was overall well written and did a good job tying up the CMC episode Flight to the Finish and Rainbow Dash's story in Rainbow Falls. But the main focus is on Spike and his stardom within the Crystal Empire. Back in Season 3 Spike was the one who got the Crystal Heart to Princess Cadance so she can use it to stop King Sombra from coming back. So since then, he's been a celebrity to the citizens of The Crystal Empire and that puts a lot of pressure on him as he's supposed to light the fire to signal the opening of the games. Overall this was well executed as he gets stage fright and was unable to light the flame so Twilight does it for him. Then he becomes depressed as he tries to make up for his failure and eventually ends up saving everypony when an ice arrow hits a cloud causing it to freeze and having it slowly descend on them. Overall the episode was good in tying up the Equestria Games but I wished they did a bit more with it. Also, it was a great learning experience for Spike to trust in himself more.

So...this is the first time we saw Prince Blueblood since the season one finale he doesn't have a speaking role but I think he should've seen it would be great to know what he's been up to since.
There are a lot of other creatures outside of the country that are attending the games. I really much enjoy seeing that.
