All the more reasons to hate Bob Paycheck (Also, no thanks to Disney+) · 2:03pm Oct 29th, 2022
I watched the news about Bob Paycheck's awful remarks about animation. I'm disgusted but not surprised at all that he's one of the people who have the "animation is for kids" mindset.
Absolute disrespect to Walt Disney! Paycheck is all about raking in the green dough instead of preserving the company's legacy. As a way to counter his remarks, allow me to share a quote from Walt himself.
Additionally, Disney+ is set to launch in the Philippines on November 17, 2022. Though personally, I will not be subscribing because I'm certain that the money will go directly to the pockets of execs, considering that there are animators who continue to get underpaid.
There's also lots of incredibly good animated media out there aimed at adults. A very famous example is Fritz the Cat, the first X-Rated animated film to be a box office success.
As you rightly point out, there needs to be stuff in the films for the adults to enjoy. Case in point; Cars (2006) is stuffed full of media and music jokes aimed specifically at the adults watching. The same is true of Cars 3 (2017), as a lot of the NASCAR history nods are clearly intended for adults watching.

Pixar films also have a lot of humour that only adults can understand.

Adults and smaller groups. Turning Red, for instance, contains lots of references and jokes only Canadians (Torontonians specifically) are going to get.
